Game of Thrones

I started watching just to see an actor playing a character just before he was beheaded.

Now I watch for the dwarf. He didn't die in the red wedding, so all is well :D

The dwarf is in fact more long-lived and resilient than most of the characters.

hahahahahaha Love that. :D

Judging by some interviews I've read with GRR Martin, he's doing what many of us say or advise -- he's writing the kind of thing he would want to read and he doesn't want to (always, at least) read about the good guys overcoming the odds and vanquishing the bad guys.

If I wanted to read about noble families double dealing, torturing and murdering each other in an endless chase for power I'll read about the War of The Roses or Renaissance Italy.

I read fantasy because I want, well, fantasy. ;)

But... Martin based a lot of GoT on things like the War of the Roses and other historical events.

I was reading one interview where he said that after Ned died, he knew right away Robb had to die, because Martin didn't want to write the story where the young son avenged the good father's death. And well, he damn sure didn't write that, did he?

GoT fan!

I love Game of Thrones!! I've been hooked and just received the books for my birthday! Can't wait to read the series!

Enjoy. :) I read them all from the library and at some point will get the series. I liked it a lot but don't expect it to follow the usual fantasy paths -- although if you've seen the TV series, you probably already know that.
