After reading this thread, I started to wonder the difference between the gag and muzzle. I’m guessing, a gag is when something inserted into the mouth like the ball and the muzzle keeps your mouth shut? If it has a ring, is that a muzzle or a gag?

Right now, the idea is a horseshoe shaped mouth piece that traps the tongue on the bottom of the mouth, and held with straps arounf the face and under the chin.

If you have a device that traps the tongue to the bottom of the mouth, would that be to silence someone? From what I’ve read, it seems to be used to allow access without biting? If that device is made with a wire and goes around the neck rather than the chin and meets in the back for control/to force the head back, could that device be used to keep a person from screaming?

Whatever a gag is, it doesn't usually have a singular purpose. Silencing a person is one purpose, but also humiliation can be another purpose. Also, depending on the type of gag, advanced use of the mouth can be the purpose of the gag.

Sure, it's to silence the person, but no gag will completely silence someone. And in my opinion, I'd rather not completely silence someone. Muffled protests are sexy. I enjoy a submissive that puts up a bit of a fight and requires being controlled with force. I like spunk.

As I've already said, there are different reasons to use a gag. Silence is rarely, if ever total. Humiliation can be one reason to gag someone. The type of gag used and the ceremony used to insert it (or lack of same) could be part of the humiliation. Soiled panties, for instance, or a ring gag used so the mouth can be used for service. But humiliation is seen differently, depending on the person.

Drooling is also sexy, in my opinion. Many gags will cause the person to drool and depending on how they are positioned, they could drool onto the floor, down their chin, or all over their naked breasts.
