I having been wanting to get a futon for some time now - all I have now is a rocker in my living room (I need to replace my broken lounge chair too). I want the futon to serve as something to lounge on, to sleep on when company comes, and for company to sit on.

I was thinking of one of those "loveseat" styles that you can lounge/recline on:

but I would have to pull it out fom the wall.

Any feedback on futons? Designs? Styles? Makes/brands? Materials?

What about recliners? My old one is broken.

I bought the futon that came with the girl...here's a hint. she looks really good, but she has bad breath and her mom is passive-aggressive.

I bought my current recliner for $25 second-hand. It's wonderful, especially in light of what it didn't cost.

I know squat about futons, tho'.

How much extra for the model?

i have a futon and I love it...it is a simple one and it looks just like a couch...it freaks people out. They come to my house and dont see a bed. "Where do you sleep?" they ask, and I fix them with a long hard disturbing stare...and whisper: "I don't"

I don't have many friends...wonder why?

I have always been into trendy beds. Waterbed in the 70's, futon in the 80's. Went traditional for 3 years in the 90's and then back to the futon.

My husband is a big guy and no matter what, I always ended up sleeping in a hole. I would wake up and my back would ache.

We got a futon and, ah, I am a happy camper. I like firm, but not hard.

My original, prior to our marriage, is in my sitting room and we use it for company. Yes, you have to pull it out, but not that far. It is also comfortable just to sleep on closed if it's only one.

I am sure that there is some local maker in your area. I buy from
Cotton Cloud Futons here in Portland.
