The fucking pilot light won't stay lit.

I got a shower but now I can't do dishes and Mr Freaky won't get a shower either.

Had a repair guy here today and he said the wind must have blown out the pilot light. It was on a couple of hours.. now it's out and the fucking wind isn't blowing.

What else could be wrong? UGH!

If wind or air isn't blowing the pilot out, it's lack of proper gas pressure. Sounds like something to call a gas guy out about. Nothing to fuck with as gas buildup can be a nasty haircut.

Ok

We also have a gas furnace. It's working fine.. they are fed from the same gas line.

If it was a gas problem wouldn't the furnace have problems too?

Nope. Pressure regulator inside water heater is different from furnace. Lack of pressure could be downline problem or just faulty equipment in water heater. One doesn't exclude the other.

I just had the same problem. Guy came out at night on time and a half pay. It cost me 100 bucks to have him replace a couple of parts.

thermocouples are about $6, and you could do it yourself. regulators are probably more and probably a repairman job, too.

I did an online search.. my problem sounds to be a thermocouple problem.

I'll check into replacing it tomorrow. Mr Freaky or I can replace it.. it looks to be a simple job.

Thanks for the information guys. :)

Sometimes it is easy to overlook a possible simpler solution.

If you have an old toothbrush, it might be worth it to simply reach in there with it and scrub out the pilot. I live in a super-buggy area with suicidal critters and it is pretty much necessary to do about once a year on my non-kitchen items. Between those bugs and the ashes from all the flying dog/cat/hamster hair...well, it could be worth a shot.

Oh, and I just have to ask, your thread is titled "Fucking hot water heater!"
What other kind of water heater do you generally see available?
