One of my beautiful, angelic daughters blew chunks in my car.

It positively reeks in there.

Any tips on getting rid of the smell?

Clean it as best you can, then get a Yankee CarJar. Those things can overpower anything..

do you have access to a carpet shampooer?

Do you have a garage that you can open all the windows on the car and let it air out in? I spose you could do it outside during the day.. just make sure it's not raining or someone doesn't try to steal it.

Buy a new car?

Febreeze has a "new car scent" it's great..maybe try that?

This is one of those days that being a mom isn't all that rewarding.

It's everywhere.

:(

Upholstry cleaner and baking soda might work. You might consider a detail shop where they do interiors, expensive, but easier. Hope she's OK.

that "new car smell" stuff will work wonders eventually - for now just clean clean clean

Pour baking soda on the stain and leave it for an hour or two. Then vacuum it up.

We had this happen twice on our trip to Chicago last month. Kinda hard to deal with while going 70mph.

But the baking soda does work.

Baking Soda Paste:

Mix baking soda with water till runny, apply to all "chunked" areas, allow to dry and then brush or vacuum off.

Also, keep windows open!

threw up in my own car... or should I say ON my car, window was close :)

i threw a bucket of water at it, soaked the interior, then I vacumed outt the water let is heat dry in the sun

Is she ok, hon? Poor thing. Both of you. :(

You've already gotten good advice, so I'll just commiserate.

well, once you get out the actually vomit, I reccomend opening up all the doors and get some airflow through the car. I'd reccomend pouring something overpowering on it. Febreeze is a good idea, as well as some car cologne shit you can get. You may want to replce the floor mats though.

Experience counts! Daycare worker here, and mom.

*high five* back

4 kids here...and plenty of pukey messes in places you don't want them.

My daughter wasn't feeling well one time and so I wrapped her up in my grandmothers antique quilt on the floor next to my bed (she wanted to sleep on the floor *shrug*) She sat up about 5 am said UtOh and had explosive poop all over the quilt and floor.

I regret not trying harder to figure out some way to clean it at the time, but I was upset, sleepy, and had a very sick girl on my hands and threw it away.

Neutralize vomit odor.
Sprinkle Arm & Hammer Baking Soda generously to cover the stained area, let sit for an hour, then vacuum up.

what just pet said. ;)

After it's vacuumed up, just keep a small thing of fabreeze in the car.

I've noticed that if the car is closed up for a while, the smell kind of comes back a bit. Roll the windows down for a bit, and spray the car down.

Thanks everybody.

Okay, I got the chunks up. Gawd this is gross. Then I scrubed the area with soap and water and sprayed it with this oder neutralizer stuff I have.

I left the car windows down even though I can't get the car into the garage yet. There is just no way I'm closing that car up right now. Somebody can steal it if they want.

I'll go pour some baking soda all over the area now.

Nora, Em's fine. Kids always feel better after they've either cost you a whole bunch of money or made a really big mess.

Hey Ruby darlin'

Hope the kiddo is feeling better .... poor little one.

If you still are having problems with the smell, they have this great odor neutralizer stuff at some pharmacies...they use it in nursing homes and whatnot. We used to use it in the ICUs I worked in. That stuff would get rid of ANY odor, I'm tellin' ya, we had some nasty ones LOL. My daughter did the same thing in MY car once...that stuff saved me (we were living in Alaska at the time and couldn't leave the windows down to let the car "air out").

That's what it was called "Odor Neutralizer" LOL...came in a small spray can...

Good luck, and hope the little one is better soon.

So, you're saying that they're like spouses? *blink*

Ruby? You know I love you madly, but we might have to pre-divide the chunk-cleaning duties.

Thanks Anelize. I'll look for that if everything else fails.

Hey, has anybody ever put a car mat through a washing machine?

Nora, I'll clean up chunks (I'm used to it) if you promise to take care of me when I'm sick. Nobody ever takes care of me.

You can put mats in the washer, but make sure you put it on Engery Saver Dry so the heating elements don't melt them.
