No. Is it modern?kotori said:Did you ever read Russel Baker's "'What I did on my Summer Vacation' by Julius Ceasar"?
Hmmm. I dunno. Late '70s, early '80s I guess? Is that modern? It was funny as hell (especially if you've ever had to translate in Latin class).Byron In Exile said:No. Is it modern?
spacekowboy420 said:Put me on the Fuck Patriotism list.
Patriotism robbed my father of his compassion and his humanity. It forced him to extinguish the lives of 43 human beings by putting him in a foreign land and forcing him to do so lest he be killed himself. Patriotism kills more people than big tobacco.
Okay, enough!!LadyFunkenstein said:You speak as though our government didn't know it was going to happen. They did.

What am I thinking... You're already half a man.
Long live my country.LadyFunkenstein said:In the US, saying Fuck Patriotism is like saying Fuck God. (That's a different thread, and one day I will do it.) It’s the big no-no: Love your country or leave it, dammit!
I am NOT patriotic. There, I said it.
I do not have a great love for the USA; I feel no devotion to the USA. I like living here, actually I like it very much. And to repay my country, I contribute my taxes. I donate to charities. I fulfill other civic duties as well. This is almost an even-Steven situation. (But really, I am getting ripped off. )
Our hand in raping the world of natural resources for profits makes me sick. And that’s not just Bush; Clinton was only marginally better. I am not proud of this, of strong-arming countries into privatizing their water supplies, their natural resources. That our federal government along with the World bank forces these things, so our corporations can make more money.
Fuck patriotism, and the horse that rode it in.
When did we become a nation in which our citizens must pledge devotion to the land and The State? And that if one doesn’t, he’ll be yelled at, ridiculed, and probably much worse?
I realize now that the hubris of un-relenting patriotism is nothing more than a way for the bastards who run this country to keep us all in check and prevent us from asking too many questions.
Fuck Patriotism.
Ishmael said:Of course. Still a poor baby. So ashamed of your father. Wanting him to be other than what he was/is.
43 huh?

Me, I'm standing my ground. Can't blame you, though.Modern Mephisto said:If it were as easy to become a Canadian or British citizen as it is to become an American - plus you got all the freebies and government aid that the US gives to foreigners - do you really think Americans wouldn't flock to other countries? Hell, I'd be gone in a fucking heartbeat.
Love? Pride? Patriotism? For the United States? You've got to be fucking kidding me.

People, before anyone gets too excited or too overworked, please remember that these are the opinions of a black woman. Black men and women share the same viewpoints that their country has let them down.
However, keep in mind; these are the same ramblings and rhetoric of blacks who believe that AIDS was deliberately created and is part of a white supremacist medical conspiracy. In fact, Mayor Eugene Sawyer, who lost his job, believed that Jewish doctors were infecting black babies with AIDS, that the federal government deliberately makes sure that drugs are available to the black community, that blacks are a victim of a conspiracy planned and plotted out in Hollywood by “people called Greenberg and Weisberg”. The offices of Planned Parenthood are located in black neighborhoods to keep blacks from reproducing, the list is endless/
Why do blacks believe this nonsense? Why does anyone think Funk is intelligent?
It's a pity that Lady Funkenstein probably out-earns you despite you being so white and alright.Mr_Stingray said:Okay, enough!!

Far from ashamed of him. Quite the contrary as a matter of fact. I however despise the system that forced him to make those choices. Not that I'd expect a heartless piece of trash like yourself to have the capacity to wrap your pea brain around that concept.

It was called "Jim Crow" here. We don't speak no Afrikaans. Same concept though.Faneros said:Was apartheid an American thing? Just asking...

Yes. But this war in Iraq is not good business at all. This is the first President to get us in a war where we don't benefit from any of it.VermilionSkye said:"War is good for business, the problem is, we've been at war since about 1916. Looking for conflicts to enter ourselves into to keep this economy going. It's a poor solution to running the country well. It worked through the 50s (for the most part), because people were amped up on the causes of WW2. Since it's a never-ending war at this stage in the game, we keep looking for new enemies, new boogiemen. We create them. Bin Laden, Hussein, both propped up and in Bin Ladens' case directly put into power by our own government. As I have said elsewhere I am not blind to the idiotic mistakes made by my own governement."
Mistakes?? Christ. Blantant outright lies and schemes.
Mistakes...? What a joke. Talk about apologizing.
