It's been a while since I posted anything, but for those that know me through my stories posted on Literotica, hopefully you'll help support me on this . . . it's a worthy cause, please believe me.

Just to bring everyone on the same page, here's my situation:

I'm a disabled veteran, formerly of the US Navy (Medic/Hospitalman), and I'm currently working for a local restaraunt chain here in Tampa. The store I work at isn't that far from my apartment, but it's murder to get there by footpower, especially with my legs the way they are (I have ankylosis in both feet and ankles; fused bones with hardly any cartelige between them).

To aleviate the stress and pain from walking over relatively long distances, I usually use a bicycle to get to and from work . . . until a couple of weeks ago, when the front axle on my bike went completely snarky on me (found out after I got it off that it's snapped and the bearings are totally gone).

As it stands, I'm still in recovery mode after getting all set up in my new apartment, and I can't afford repairs, much less even getting a new bike. As such, the most that most of the stores that sell bikes here offer the usual cheap ones that wouldn't hold my body weight.

So, after I thought about it and did some research, I've decided I need to get an adult-sized trike bicycle. The three wheels are more stable, will support my weight better, and with the right brand will last far longer than any of the two-wheelers I've had in the past.

But, the clinch is that most Trikes cost anywhere from 350.00USD to 500.00USD!

So, I'm going to save what money I can, but . . . even though I usually don't like to ask for charity, I'd like to at least ask my fellow Literotica writers, readers and others if they wouldn't lend me a little aid at this time? I'm puting out the word for this trike-fund drive, in hopes I can raise the five-hundred dollars by the end of the year -- at the latest, January 2007.

All I can ask is for just a small donation -- one dollar, if at the least -- and everyone that does give will have my supreme thanks for your support for this former Navy medic. To make things easy, you can send the donations to my paypal account at the following address : ssobotka33616_AT_yahoo.com. (just replaced the _AT_ with an @ sign when you do.

If you don't have paypal access, but still want to help, drop me reply with an email I can send you my snail-mail address if you wish to send a donation that way. Currently, some donations have been made, all totaled about $76.00USD raised.

If you read this, please let anyone whom you know would like to help me to come to this journal. Please don't spam it (I don't want to contribute to the Net Litter that's out there!), but do spread the word that one of those that served for this country's defense is in need of a little help.

Thanks again in advance, for listening. I wouldn't post this if I didn't feel it nessessary . . . again, thanks for your attention!

I'm replying in my guise of an unassuming 100% disabled vet.

Get in touch with some local vets groups (American Legion, VFW, DAV etc.) and see if they will help you with a LOAN. Odds are one of them will spring for the entire amount as a gift. The appeal of helping another vet keep a job will be hard to resist, especially if you're offering to pay the money back.

Beat up vet Rumple Foreskin

Thanks for speaking up, Rumple. Good to hear from a fellow Vet.

Sad part is, I've spoken to a few of those organizations -- DAV, the Legion to name a couple -- and I was basically told they could not help me on any score, as well as they kept refering me back to the VA Hospital here in Tampa, and the local Vet. Admin in St. Petersburg (whom I'd already spoken too, and both had said unless my disability was 100-percent -- I'm 10-percent -- they couldn't even get me a push-wheelchair).

Every organization I've contacted that people have recommended have all basically said similar things: sorry, can't really help your case... why not talk to-?

So, this is what I'm forced to do; ask for help from my friends and from people that know me through my writing.
