Freedom of Speech

Isn't it funny how when KR or his cronies post, you all go out of your way to derail the topics by showing your intelligence level.

But when he posted a legitimate question about safety checks for underage visitors, he was given the freedom of speech argument.

I thought that Freedom of Speech meant that you were allowed to voice your opinions without being penalized?

The more I see, the more I agree with Scylis and Juspar and those that have left.

Practice what you preach, or is that too hard a concept for you, I realize it doesn't concern sex or perversion so it may be a stretch.

I may be new here, but I've "seen" (read) a thing or two about Members being cowards and posting as Guests when they are afraid to voice their real opinions under their registered name.

I agree with you, Emerald Eyes- maybe one of the reasons why some people choose not to post here any more is because some people don't have the guts to say something controversial without putting their name to it...

I'm new too, I think they call them trolls! :D

and...why start a whole new thread about it, wouldn't the original thread have been better place?

Not when someone wants attention. Not when someone wants another thread to be 5, 6, 10 pages long of "friends" and/or aquantences bickering and fighting like high school children. Not when someone craves this hostility and anger to run free on this site. Not when someone is bitter. :(

What happened to the "God Bless America" and "I love you all" and whatever acts of pulling together had been shown here only a month ago?

my 'making a point'

I am new here so I have done a lot of reading. There is a ton of posts on the Freedom of Speech. Here is my take:

Of course, we all have the right to say whatever we want and to whoever we want. There are many times, reading thru all these threads that I could have made a smartass remark in response to something. Since none of you know me or my sense of humor yet, I keep those comments to myself. Not because I'm scared to post them or scared of being 'flamed' (after my very first post, nothing scares me here :D ) I choose not to because its the polite thing to do. I see lots of comments that I think are unnecessary, just downright mean, but its their choice to post them.

I may have the whole meaning of Freedom of Speach wrong, was Kidrocks Freedom of Speech denied? I read his post,so I think not! It works both ways. He posted his opinion, exercising his right to do so. What followed was everyone else's right, in that same respect. Is the issue with Kidrock really about Freedom of Speech? From what I have read, I don't think so. I don't know him, so I make no comments about him personally.

In my humble opinion, the age old proverb stands: If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Now, that doesn't mean that there should be no arguments. You can definately argue your point, but are the comments that just show how much of a bitch/dickhead you can be when crossed, really necessary?

Just an opinion from a newbie!:p

Blah, blah, blah. Same shit, different names. Move on, nothing to see. ;) You'll all get used to it in time.

Seriously, though. The best way to deal with crud like this is to move on to another thread and yap about something fun. Go on, shoo! :)

Predictable

The clowns are out early this morning.

I guess then we'll all just start talking about balloons on everyone else's threads and nutella and that's very adult and intelligent.

You've proved that you're like sheep.

the only persons that have the power to deny someones freedom of speech on here is laurel and manu because they are only ones that can delete posts

you cant deny someones freedom of speech by using your right of express your own views using your own freedom of speech

another words we can talk about balloons or nuttela all we want on which ever thread we want ... someone has every right to call us moron's which your doing in this thread ... so you see it works :)

everything old is new again.

I don't think "Making a Point" said anything particularly mean or nasty. I also don't think we shoud automatically discount what ALL guests have to say.....they just might have a good point. It's kinda like sticking your fingers in your ears ang going "LA-LA-LA-LA-I can't hear you" Grow up, read the post and make a choice.......

ok, *sounding like the stupid newbie I am* what the hell is nuttela?

a really gross hazelnut spread........

But that is just my opinion ..others here seem to love it.

Ohh sweet,

Nutella is this awesome chocolate / Hazelnut cream stuff that you can buy in the grocery store...

It is creamy, it is not "nutty"...

It goes great with Shortbread cookine (which is what I have used it on, primarily {grin})

It also goes great with Frangelica, the Hazelnut Liquer made by Monks....

Yes, very yum....

You do have a point- the person who started this thread didn't say anything outright mean, but he/she made a statement about something that several other members here have discussed under their own name...

And you don't think this is snotty? Why say it in the guise of a troll?

sexy-girl

Freedom of Speech does not apply to this BB. It is privately owned and Laurel and Manu can delete anything they want. It's theirs. They own it. No one has a "right" to be heard here. It also does not mean that someone is immune from criticism for speaking their mind. You can say anything you want, but be prepared to pay the price.

John Rocker is a perfect example. He had a right to express his stupid remarks. And now he's paying the price.

Freedom of speech

is a joke!

Try saying precisely what is on your mind in the wrong venue and see what happens.

It could be anything a simple as being flamed here or getting your ass kicked in a bar.

Not to mention getting fired from a good job because your former bosses are cowards.

OOH! Is that a sore point.

If you don't like my "free speach" bite me. :p ;)

For others with open minds, thanx for letting me vent.
I'll try to control it in the future!:)

TN_Vixen

Yes, he is a fucking idiot. But people who aren't idiots aren't immune either.
