Free mustache rides!![]()

What about housing? Phones? Education? Medical Care? Food? Abortions? If the government gives this all away then it is free.... right?
Everyone can quit working then.![]()

Sorry, I forgot to mention free beer.
Everyone can quit working then.![]()
The Labour party is promising free internet in the UK if they get elected.
But that means the current internet providers will have to pull out of the UK AND it is against EU rules that Labour says it wants to remain inside.
Free = much more taxation and do you want no choice but a government run internet?
Seems to be working for your health care...
But we have alternatives if you want them and are prepared to take out health insurance or pay yourself.
The proposal would be for a government run internet and no alternative.
Hmm, kinda like the current "heath care for all" idea. Yet, for some reason "single payer" is bad for the internet but good for health care?
The lack of consistency is really glaring here.
It's such a great idea!!
I can't believe nobody has ever tried this before.![]()

Single payer works for the health service because you have an option to buy elsewhere and it means you do not have to become bankrupt if your health is a problem.
Single payer for the internet means you are forced to use a government service whether you want to or not, and given the Labour Party's penchant for control-freakery I can envisage being restricted to government-approved websites. There are many in the Labour Party who are against porn and erotica and want to restrict free speech to what is politically correct.
If a Labour Government was in charge of the internet, George Orwell's 1984 looks very possible.
The Medicare for All bill would eliminate nearly all private health insurance...

So, if it's good for healthcare, it should be good for the internet. If not, then vice versa. Right?
Yes I know you're in the UK. I'm merely exposing the hypocrisy that people think that governmental control over the internet = bad; but government control over HC = good. It seems for most people that when it comes to YOU personally, you don't want the government involved in your decisions, but when it's about someone else, it's all good.
In the UK private heathcare is flourishing.
But if the internet is free (taxpayer paid for) no commercial company can compete. The current shareholders would lose massively.
