There are worse faults to have! Although if you were dressed like you were in your GTI they were probably not dedicating their full attention to teaching...

Stick is definitely more fun to drive, but on newer vehicles sadly there isn't much need for it. Between paddle shifters and being able to adjust shift points there isn't any true need.

There is a certain "cool" factor though, and the opportunity to make dirty driving stick jokes... (Which you left wide open and I had to fight back the urge to make them!)

Oh yes, the setup for the stick jokes was intentional
