Mostly men too. Reading women's history has been rather fascinating, particularly the women who went into wars passing as men.

An interesting thought, now over-taken, I suspect by there being women soldiers on the front line (Tank commanders as well !).

I remember sitting in the public library reading various parts of The Joy of Sex in 1972. I was only 15 and didn't dare check it out to take home.

My mother sent a letter to the librarian when I was abou twelve saying I could check out anything I wanted. And yes, she really wrote it after careful consideration.

We only lived a block and a half from the public library, but the really nice thing was it was only another four blocks to the college library too. Being a liberal arts college, they had a wide variety of books the public library didn't.
