I read some place years ago they got in HUGE trouble for singing the actual verse's words on "Sullivan".

Never been able to confirm, deny, or even be sure where I read that... But I DO have a DVD set to prove Davy Jones (the only deceased Monkee) appeared on the same episode as the half-dead & not-really-all-that-"Fab Four".

'The half-dead & not-really-all-that-"Fab Four"'? I know that I'm getting old, and my memory may be creaking a little, but I recall that 'the fab four' were The Beatles.

That was when US citizens were pretending things (especially people) were better than they actually were if they "bothered to make the trip" from other countries, with their instruments, play a little something for us, etc... Nowadays, immigration is big, so admit continuing need to "buy American"... New Monkees' album comes out any day now.
