Fragrances for Men

anteus by chanel is by far my favorite~very sexy fragrance

herrera for men works too.

i like patchoulli oil

sung is quite sophisticated.

I buy my husband, Lagerfeld. I buy him the deoderant and the aftershave balm.

Lagerfeld is a classic oriental spice with top notes of bergamot, lavender, basil, sage and heart of rose, cedar, tobacco, the dry down is complex with patchouli, sandalwood.

Interesting that it contains the scent of tobacco, my father was a pipe smoker...

I find that the fixatives in both women's and men's perfume/cologne make me sneeze and stuff up. I personally use scented body lotion which is much more subtle and doesn't cause the sniffles.

I should go out and look to see what is available in men's scented body lotions...

Here's a few more that I'm pretty sure I'd wouldn't want to wear:

Disney Babies (yes, you can find it on that site I linked above). I sure don't want to smell like spoiled diapers.

Diesel - and I sure don't want to smell like gasoline.

Funwater - I don't even want to know what's in it.

Green Jeans - What's next... Captain Kangaroo?

Harry Potter - *lol* Its there, I'm not making this up.

Michael Jordan - smell just like the locker room after a game.

Micky Mouse - oh yeah, this one will get you the babes!

Winnie the Pooh - "oh what is that fragrance you're wearing you big hunk of man you" - "its Winnie The Pooh"

Alfred Sung

Ah both you and glam recommended this one.

Launched by the design house of Alfred Sung in 1988, SUNG is classified as a sharp, spicy, lavender, amber fragrance. This masculine scent possesses a blend of lemon, tangerine, sage and pepper. Accompanied by cedar and sandalwood. It is recommended for daytime wear.

The description of Lagerfeld is a bit different on this site:

"Launched by the design house of Karl Lagerfeld in 1978, LAGERFELD is classified as a refined, oriental, woody fragrance. This masculine scent possesses a blend of warm spices and tobacco. It is recommended for evening wear."

I think http://www.fragrancenet.com/ - has lotions as well - and their prices look good - you should check it out.

I've used it for about 8 years now.

I snagged my last long term GF with it. Heh.

Do you really think the fragrance had something to do with you hooking up with her?

This is a serious question - not just for you - but anyone here... maybe even better directed toward women: "Has a man's fragrance ever made the difference between you being interested in him or not?"

Well, not entirely. It definitely got me in the door though. She would always comment on it. I've actually had many women comment on it. It's not a super strong, overpowering fragrance, but rather more subdued, yet still manly :)

LOL

oh heck yeah! the sense of smell is one of our biggest triggers for stimulating sexual responses. Odors can trigger emotions because we have a good memory for scents.

this is from an artical by Alan Hirsch, MD on the subject:
"Hirsch and colleagues report that the smell of pumpkin pie paired with lavender, black licorice, or doughnuts caused the greatest increase in penile blood flow in men. Penile blood flow is a measure of sexual arousal. In women, however, the scent of "Good 'n Plenty" candy with either cucumber or banana nut bread increased vaginal blood flow, a gauge of female sexual arousal.

The scent of cherries, barbecue roasted meat, and men's cologne all had a negative effect on vaginal blood flow in women, Hirsch explains. "Actually every smell that we tested aroused men, but for women it's much harder," Hirsch tells WebMD. "If you want to arouse her on Valentine's Day or any other day, throw away your cologne and buy some "Good 'n Plenty."

I wonder if they made a men's cologne that smelled like licorice, cucumber and banana nut bread if they'd cancel each other out??

I love Aqua Di Gio from Armani...such a sexy scent...mmmmmmm

Interesting... Men's cologne was a turn off.

One other smell my ex loved about me, was when I was just out of the shower and wearing fresh, clean clothes. Mmm.. I got lots of hugs in the mornings <grin>

So you're saying there is no cologne that will drive the babes wild?

The old faithful Drakkar Noir makes my knees weak.

Now I know which one I'm wearing to lunch. heh

I have several scents that I wear only because I have so many that are pleasing to me at any given time.

Lagerfeld (I haven't worn this in 2-3 years, but it's one of my old favorites)

Drakkar Noir

Nautica Latitude/Longitude

Emporio Armani for Men

Givenchy

And...lastly...something I was given at Christmas which has grown on me in the last couple months is "Bora Bora" by Claiborne.

Lagerfeld sounds wonderful...I love the blend of natural scents.

Patchouli oil and sandalwood are two of my favorites for men.

I also like Bay Rum.

just dont drink it...the bay rum that is....

I've always liked Lagerfeld and Drakkar.

Some of those fragrance places online have little samples you could buy to try them out without spending a fortune. Some also have the testers which are much cheaper. I think you really have to try the fragrances on yourself because they smell different on everyone.

Subtle scent on a man is a turn on for me. Part of the turn on is that he cares enough about his presentation that he takes the time to put on a scent and not cause an allergy attack. It is up there with manicured fingernails and toenails, pressed clothing and styled head and facial hair (bald is okay, both head and facial). Doesn't take much effort, but greatly appreciated and makes me swoon.

I like the smell of Stetson. It's not overpowering or sickeningly sweet. I think it smells very masculine, makes me think old west, illicit coupling between cowboy and dance-hall girl. And if the guy's wearing Steston cologne, a cowboy hat, and cowboy boots, and NOTHING else, well, that's even BETTER!

Aloha from Patty

Yes - another reason I like this site - you can buy "mini's" in the $9 to $20 range (depending on the make). So I don't mind picking up a 1/2 dozen and trying them out. You're right that it they interact differently with each person.

Roma seems to work well on me - so that's a starting point... *lol*
