Is anyone else having issues with the forum the past few days? Hanging up when you enter a thread, freezing on a post, loading a page, which refuses to happen? Even opening the main forum page can take minutes to load.

At first, I thought it was my computer, but this is the only place it happens. Not even the main Literotica pages have any trouble. Only the forums.

WTF is up?

Yep. I thought it was my connection but no it's def Literotica forums... It's gone all wonky.

I have not noticed this yet, but it's been odd how long (around two weeks) the favorite stories list has been down.

The fav story list went down 8/6 a par for the course instance of them updating something and losing something.

But things happen, but the shitty thing is they have ignored a thread about it, deleted my thread in the poetry forum letting them know the fav poem list was gone, and ignored PM"s from myself and at least 4 other people that I know of.

In the annual contest winner thread, Chloe mentions something about comments and here comes Manu racing in to immediately tell her all about the new things coming while as this thread states the entire forum is misfiring. He also responded to Melissa, because they have their darlings(no offense to either person, this is on them, not you) but when I again brought up the favs list in the thread crickets.

For a long time the only people who would call out site bullshit was myself and Keith(only thing we ever agreed on). There was one more, an amazing poster Stella Omega who was a real force in the BDSM and LGBT threads....she left after she was bold faced lied to over the bi sexual category, and literally lied to in a thread that she provided proof of lit's promise, then they still said, no, they never said that.

Little gem...Keith (Pilot at the time) and I were officially branded trolls by Laurel...why? Because I found out and posted that when she was announcing monthly winners well over a year late, they were never notified and the site wasn't paying out money. Pilot jumped in on that, and we were called out for OUR behavior. Note, after that the site began e-mailing contest winners.

Since then Pilot, who has several green E's never got another one, and I am always attacked by the sites suck ups any time I call bullshit. Bullshit as in right is right. Silly me.

Back to the favs list, lit is predictable if nothing else, the fact no one is getting an answer-even some site favs-on this matter means its gone for good.

The 250 most popular stories on the site, some that have been on that list for years and steadily moving up, now gone and hey, who cares, right? Certainly not literally the most popular authors on the site that bring countless readers here and make them money. That list was from as far back as lit goes and a prestigious thing to be on, especially seeing stats and feedback are the only payment we get here in exchange for getting them paid. Its a give and take except only one side takes, and no one is supposed to care.

With all this, maybe some of the people who think I have no justification to bitch about the lack of respect we get here, might come around a little now that they lost something they care about and am being ignored.

And never get me started on the dead baby thread, Selena Kitt or Danielle Kitten and the horrific things that happened to them while the site sat back and just thought it was great. You have to have been here a good long time to have caught that stuff, but I think its worth an occasional reminder as to what is deemed acceptable here while not even having enough respect to type a ten second "hey, looking into it" response to people.

lovecraft68, take a breath now, deep draw the air deep into your lungs. Visualize all the issues fixed, all that was lost replaced and re-upped, now breath out, repeat. I know it won't fix anything, but maybe you can at least remember what it was like when everything was right.

I'm not trying to be a smart ass, and I get your frustration. Most of the issues predate me. However, I get what you're saying and think the site owners should hire some help and try to maintain Literotica better.

(Deleted content) got off on a tangent.

I have had to hit F5 multiple times to post. Most have taken fifteen minutes or more to save a short post.

I have been 'timed out' several times this afternoon while trying to post.

Yeah. Something is goofy with the site. I also have time-outed more than once.

Might be a good idea to backup everything, like works in process, in case the site crashes or what not.

Facebook just glitched with all the money it's got behind it. Microsoft constantly froze. Boeing's rocket computers fucked up trying to get into orbit.

Software glitches, no matter how much money you have. Get over it, or start paying for the service, then start complaining.

Yeah I have a feeling their servers get overloaded causing a major lag. I have noticed it off an on here for quite awhile.

It seems like the story que is really backed up too.

I have had one waiting approval for a week now, and it seems like not many stories are getting published this week.

And I suggest it is a very good idea for writers with content posted here to ensure that it also exists elsewhere. Have been burned on that before on the Internet. Nothing lasts forever, and you usually get some sort of warning when a site is winding down.

I've experienced the lag periodically for awhile now. It really stood out when we recently upgraded the internet speed and everything was noticeably faster, but lit was still dragging

As for the story lag, that's going to suck for people who busted their butts to get their contest entry in early(unless those are being streamlined?)

I'm going out on a limb and going to say these issues-like many in the past-are due to them trying to maintain this vast site themselves and not wanting to spend. Every upgrade leaved behind more broken pieces and issues.

We play powerball every week and I always say if I won I'd buy the site, just tell them throw me a number cause I'll need something to do with myself. My wife thinks I'm kidding, but I really would.

Then I can bitch about myself....heh.

Okay. A web site is not necessarily one-size-fits-all for all pages and subsites from the main URL. Different pages can take different times loading, depending upon the resources (RAM and disk access) needed to draw and respond to the request. Then add the user load, and some things might take more time than others to show up in your browser.

I am a geek and spent decades working on such IT issues (thus my main character, TED is such a geek, and my writing is somewhat dysfunctional.)

All of these issues (increasing RAM, separating out databases to faster disk resources, or adding servers for more CPU power) can be fixed with more technical resources. But you get what you pay for.

I know crap about tech, but my guess is in order to do a full across the board overhaul the site would have to be down for a period of time, which they don't want. So the MO has been to fix/upgrade a section at a time, but it seems when one section is tweaked something else breaks.

I always have the visual of the old cartoon where the guy is in front of the dam which springs leaks and they keep sticking their fingers and toes in and more holes pop up.

What could also help is to stop trying to add bells and whistles(most of which no one ever asked for) until you fix the current features. But what do I know, that's not techy, just seems like common sense.

It would be a shame if the top 250 favorited stories list was gone forever. It's hard for me to believe that would be the case. I would think there would be records that could be recovered to get it going again. I admit I have a selfish interest in it because one of my stories climbed to number 63 on that list before the list went down. I wish we would get an update from the site on what's going on. I don't expect that much from a site for which I pay nothing, but I'd like to see communication and transparency.

Lovecraft, I suppose if that site defect brought you and KeithD together, that's one positive thing to take away from it. ❤️😂

It takes more than one to "come together." That's not going to happen with this. A decade and a half of stalking is a decade and a half too long.

The data has never been lost. All the favorites are still there, it's just a matter of a query repopulating the list. That was happening every time the list updated anyway, and what is failing in one way or another now. So long as people can add and remove favorites, and they aren't vanishing into the ether, the data is still there. It's probably a fairly intensive query, but it's one that was being run on a regular basis before, so in the grand scheme of everything, it's a miniscule issue to run it and repopulate the list once whatever underlying problem is there has been resolved.

I can't glean any useful information about what might be causing it from what's available on the public side, which is why I haven't really piped up about it much. Nothing to offer. Could be the query failing, the table that stores the lists being corrupt, etc. I can't narrow anything down. The old V1 favorites portal is displaying the same gobbledygook.

My last story went live last week in three days, and a Delete I asked for only took a week. Other than the forum glitch a few days ago, when Log In went a bit skewy, it's business as usual for me.

Me too. A steady usually two days but occasionally three-day delay, and I submit at least one a week. The one that will post in an hour or two is a two-day delay, but it's a contest piece and these usually post the next day. My last two recent contest posts were within a day.

Site kept timing out yesterday, yes, and my last couple stories took nearly a week to be published after I'd got used to a 24-hour turnaround time. And the forum was failing to post for hours as well as the new-usual having to copy text and refresh to post.

Separately, I know the 80s have made a comeback, but using medical terms as slurs, really? Someone here will probably tell me I'm being oversensitive, but it's been 20 years since I had to put up with that. I thought better of you, Millie.

I'm a student of two things, history, which continues to repeat itself here, and base human nature. My BHN theory can be summed up by however low of a bar you set for someone, they will manage to slink under it. My vent was a vent, I have no expectations other than in the past, repeated shaming is the only thing that's got anything done.

Took me a lot of posts and linking it any chance I could to get a story called Raping Chay pulled from the site which claims it doesn't allow rape stories. It was there for years, then when I mentioned it last time someone pointed out it was finally gone. They won't even acknowledge when they're wrong, they just sneak in, do what they need to, then try to make it seem there was nothing amiss, ever.

OK

I was wrong

Since I am still a newbie, I didnt click the final button that said review and publish, so it was still sitting in drafts.
