Foreign Students Afraid To Come Here....

I had the option to study in America, but chose not to. Not because of scary guns, but because of scary cars. Well into my 20's I still had no driver's license (no need for it here), and the image I had of the US was that if you can't drive places, you're screwed.

It's only lately I realize that that's only true for some of the country, about 90% of it. Fortunately, it's the 90% I have no desire to linger in.

That's a silly thing to be afraid of but it was only a year or so back that some kids got killed at (I think) UCLA and it seems that the reason was Americans pissed about foreigners in our schools.

...good, who besides the asshole below cares?

You should, it’s a great revenue stream. Not only do they pay un-subsidized tuition fees, spend foreign currency on a whole manor of things during their stay, but, once they return home they’re apt to do business with the country they were educated in and with those they were educated with.

Woof!

Despite the best efforts of leftists everywhere, Toomey-Machin appears to be in deep shit:

Graham to Oppose Toomey-Manchin

South Carolina senator Lindsey Graham announced earlier today that he will vote against the compromise amendment proposed last week by senators Pat Toomey and Joe Manchin, which would expand criminal background checks to all advertised gun sales. Graham announced his decision on Twitter, arguing that the bill is “well-intentioned” but does not constitute “a solution to illegal gun violence”:

The amendment will likely face an uphill battle, and Graham’s announcement is a blow to gun-control advocates who had hoped to win him over to their side with this compromise.

The White House said today that the president is deeply involved in the push to pass gun legislation. Though press secretary Jay Carney acknowledged that the Toomey-Manchin compromise does not represent the views of the administration, he applauded the “welcome and significant bipartisan progress.”

Graham wants to be president more than he wants America to be safe.

In order to be president, he has to adopt a hardcore wingnut agenda to appeal to right-wing trailer trash such as yourself.

Kerry: Foreign Students 'Scared' of Guns in America
9:41 AM, APR 15, 2013 • BY DANIEL HALPER

Secretary of State John Kerry tells CNN that foreign students are "scared" of guns in America:

"We had an interesting discussion about why fewer students are coming to, particularly from Japan, to study in the United States, and one of the responses I got from our officials from conversations with parents here is that they're actually scared. They think they're not safe in the United States and so they don't come," Kerry tells CNN.

He noted Japan's restrictive gun laws – which prevent private ownership of nearly all firearms, including handguns – and said the country was safer "where people are not running around with guns."

That's the attitude that's helping your country slip farther and farther down the worlds most educated country list.

Students, the tired and huddled masses need not apply.

I thought you were an American living in Sweden. What the hell are you?

We shouldn't be allowing foreign students to study in our universities in the first place, at least not the public ones. Taxpayers fund these places for American students, and foreigners come and take places that would otherwise go to American students. Its been a problem for a long time.

Black and Hispanic American youth are disproportionally harmed when foreign students take places in our public universities.

And the foreign students pay full tuition. Unlike the majority of "our" people. In state tuition much? Hmm. Who do I want to add to my school's revenue? The In-state lower tuition or the full tuition paid by the foreign students? Go ahead, say it. I need the laugh.

Tough shit, stay home.

Damn Vette, you've gone from Right wing nutbag to Fascist bigot in no time flat huh? I pity this country, I really do, if the rabid conservatives win after Obama's term is up.
