Putin unleashes Iskander-M missile attack to 'sink container ship in Odesa carrying cargo of British weapons for Ukraine'

Vladimir Putin unleashed a missile strike to 'sink' a cargo ship amid unconfirmed Russian claims it was carrying British weapons for use by Ukraine.
Two Iskander-M ballistic missiles hit the Panama-flagged container ship MSC LEVANTE F - reportedly Swiss-owned - soon after it arrived in Odesa on March 1, after making a stop in Turkey.
Two port workers were believed to have been wounded in the strike, which also damaged infrastructure, Ukrainian reports said.
The report of the attack comes as British prime minister Sir Keir Starmer today hosts Volodymyr Zelensky and other European leaders to discuss the future of the wartorn nation following the Ukrainian president's televised spat with US president Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance.

Ukraine's 2025 Campaign: Early Counterattacks - At Home And Abroad

Ukrainian offensive efforts are growing more numerous, contradicting media narratives about Ukraine's supposed exhaustion. A new battlefield rhythm is emerging; Ukraine is winning the adaptation race.
It is still very early days, but over the past few weeks Ukrainian forces have, on several fronts, made a clear shift from area to active defense. The distinction may seem technical, but represents a major change in Ukraine’s posture as it continues to fight for everyone’s freedom from russian fascism. In area defense, the priority is minimizing friendly costs while maximizing the enemy’s. Territory only matters insofar as a chunk of dirt helps advance that core mission. Interestingly, the rather epic Oval Office blowup you may have heard something about this past week was also part of the process. Active defense often looks similar to area defense, but intentionally incorporates sustained counterattacks that go beyond reclaiming positions in the grey zone. Over several days the defender will attempt to push the enemy back in a target sector before - usually - reverting to an Area defense scheme as hostile reinforcements arrive.
The best moment to make the switch is when an enemy advance has begun to falter for lack of resources along the front. Done right, the change can destabilize the enemy to such a degree that the initial limited effort evolves into a bigger, operational-level event. I can’t forecast anything major happening just yet, as the approach of spring makes movements of more than 3-5km tough to sustain. But the choice to take the risk of higher casualties that this kind of operation entails suggests that Ukraine has big plans for 2025 - including a sustained series of major counteroffensives, resources permitting. Of course, a slowing or halt to American aid could threaten this.
Ukraine has shifted modes on several fronts, launching aggressive counterattacks that go beyond seizing a few positions after an orc push is smashed. In multiple locales, but especially the Pokrovsk and Toretsk fronts, Ukrainian forces are punching back far more aggressively than was typical over winter. The reason? Moscow’s forces are visibly tired across the board. The depth and intensity of attacks continues to decline, and the latest orc attempts to creep around the flanks of a large Ukrainian grouping - Kupiansk, Pokrovsk, Southern Donbas - have by and large failed. Slowly pushing forward one tree line at a time, even if this does force Ukraine to withdraw bit by bit, is not a recipe for victory. Putin is relying on Trump throwing him a lifeline by freezing the conflict somehow. But Ukraine appears to have conserved enough resources to prevent this and even claw back ground.
With the proper support from European and Pacific leaders, Ukraine stands a very real chance of launching a serious, sustained counteroffensive effort in 2025. If it happens, the strike will come at a moment of extreme ruscist vulnerability, Putin’s ground war stuttering for lack of trained troops and quality gear while Ukraine’s drone fight escalates, from the front line to 2,000km or more behind. At the same time, the ruscist economy is racing towards a precipice: these converging trends are leading Moscow to catastrophe. The door is open to a radical shift in the balance of power in Europe and the globe. As Trump and Vance inherit the vain effort by Biden and Harris to hold back the tide by preventing Ukraine from destroying Putin’s regime once and for all, reality is starting to bite.
There’s no going back, and Victory in Ukraine is the key to our common future.
Where the Biden Administration played a more subtle game, leaking information to the Russians, stalling and prevaricating on military assistance, and not permitting Ukraine to undertake offensive actions that would have given them some early victories, all in vain attempts to bring Putin an "off ramp" that he was never interested in, we can now see that Ukraine is, despite that, on the verge of turning the war around and inflicting major damage on Putin and recaptured chunks of the occupied territories, actions which would in all probability lead to the collapse of the Empire and Putin's death.
As a result, we can see Trump and Vance actively assisting Putin, cutting off military aid to Ukraine, attempting to force a Russian victory on Ukraine, pushing for the outsing of a popular elected President because he doesn't kiss their ass, in what will hopefully be a vain attempt to prevent the Collapse of the Russian Empire - you can come up with your own reasons for this - Trump is a Russian Agent, the global elites have to much wealth to be made from Russia and their ties with the Putin regime, or just plain stupidity and ego. I don't think it's the last - or it may be a combination of the last and the first, or all three, but for whatever reason, Trump is actively seeking to break down the alliances that have kept the world stable for the last seventy years. Obama was bad, Biden was weak, but they maintained the status quo.
With his now active moves against Ukraine, Trump has turned into a traitor, not just to the USA but to the entire western world.
At this point, with European backing, I guess Ukraine will need to continue on without US aid, which, fortunately, is not quite as crucial as it was. Europe really does need to get their ass moving though, and I suspect they now realize this.

Well. that's the risk associated with signing agreements, treaties and guarantee's of the borders of other countries in return for their nukes.
Ukraine entirely fulfilled its agreements in 1996: all nuclear warheads were transferred to Russia for destruction, and classified strategic bases were converted to non-military use. The guarantors, on the other hand, did not fulfill their obligations.
Personally, I'd say at this point, if Trump wants to walk away from Ukraine, fine. Cut US funding, fine. We renege on that guarantee of borders. Fine. Our signature on any existing or agreement is now worthless without hard collateral. Agreed. Now, let's refund Ukraine the replacement cost of the nukes, cruises missiles, aircraft and nuclear infrastructure we persuaded them to give up in return for that now worthless signature that USA refuses now to honor.

So around 1200 missiles which we will abitrarily assign the replacement cost of a Tomahawk - $2.5 million

23 January 2025I think working the peace negotiations is worth a try. If Putin accelerates while trying to negotiate peace I don't believe Trump will take kindly to Putin slapping him in the face. Trump will sanction the crap out of Russia. Putin's economy WILL crash and burn and Putin knows it. There are other events happening behind the scenes, one policy is to give Europeans an alternative energy supply from the US cutting deep into Putin's revenue supply. NATO nations needs to get on the same page and present one face to Putin. Putin will be forced to rethink his position on the world stage. If Putin looses Trump's support Putin stands to lose his federation. Putin will have nothing to support his war effort. IMHO Trump has only been in office a month and a half. Right now Putin is winning the propaganda war AND IS MAKING FOOLS OUT OF THE WEST.. Europe, the EU and Baltics states need to STFU and get on board. The appearance of western unity will have an effect on how Putin moves forward.

The thing there is, USA already signed up when we signed the 1994 Budapest Memorandum. We signed, and in signing, we pledged our Lives, our Fortunes, and our sacred Honor (to coin a phrase LOL). That horse flew a 30 years ago. Now admittedly, the Biden Administration fucked up support and handicapped Ukraine, but they DID provide a modicum of support. Trump is NOT supporting Ukraine, and in fact is actively assisting Putin and trying to force a Russian victory.
And no-one is "begging" for your resources. All that's needed is for the US to sell the weapons Ukraine needs to Ukraine.

Chloe...... after reading the list of military equipment the ukies gave up.... it took awhile to soak in (now hear me out) by all intent Ukraine had the most powerful military on the European land mass outside of Russia and by all intents and purpose could have walked and conquered all of western Europe Neary unopposed... as demonstrated by their resistance to Russia.... that being said......
What if, what if....between the democrats and the leaders of western Europe they engineered a plot/plan to disarm Ukraine's (very capable military) then goad the Russians into invading Ukraine over the placement of American ballistic missiles systems on the Ukrainian /Russian border? Think about this.....
The benefits are numerous one they use Russia to destroy the Ukraine as you know it plunging the ukies into slavery for the next 100 years, weakening the Russians to be ripe for invasion and break-up of the Russian federation into 40 smaller manageable "states" all the while stealing money and making money hand over fist selling the government military equipment......
