E-mail addresses aren't actually public in profiles. When you put in your address, a link appears in the "Contact Etoile:" section saying "Click here to email Etoile" and when you do that, the e-mail address is not revealed. The forum guidelines state:

4. You may not post personal information of other members or, for that matter, anyone else. We do not allow phone numbers, email addresses, private messages or quotes from private emails to be posted on the forum. This rule also covers real names, employment info, and any other personal information that we deem inappropriate.

As for the "why" of your question...I have no idea. It's something the staff decided, and we all just have to go along with it. It happens a lot more frequently in the Personals area.

And Etoile, I understand about removing the e-mail addy. I had thought it was ok for me to post MY info. I did not want to cause any trouble. I removed the addy from the GB as well. You and Q are great mod's and I would not want any one else (except Glam) to have control over what I post.
