Food supplements: What do you take?

Some sort of memory enhancing vitamins.




When I remember to buy them.
 
Real ale.

I need to take this because my normal diet, though I cook from fresh with lots of fruit and veg and modest amounts of meat that more than meet my dietary needs for proteint/fats/carbs/vitamins and minerals thus making supplements unnecessary, my diet is seriously lacking in fresh, real ale.

I also not so stupid to buy into the you need this shit from people selling me this shit.
A proper diet means you do not need supplements. Vitamin and mineral supplements, at best do no harm. At worst they can be seriously dangerous. Even people who are body building don't need all that whey powder. The only reason they need it because they have way more money than sense and believe the bullshitters that this will help them.
 
Multivitamin and a lot of B vitamins. Turns out I had a deficiency causing my migraines, so normal amounts of B-12 and B-complex, with 400 mg B2 (riboflavin) a day, which is 23,000% the recommended daily allowance.

Migraines cut down from half of my life to 1/100th of my life.
 
Fresh organic whole veggies and lean meat, clean water. Never been so healthy.
 
Something to help my knees, forget what it's called.


Glucosamine, that is it.

I was taking a whole dictionary worth of stuff, but after carefully investigating including blood tests, etc, it turns out I don't need it all. My naturopath would not agree. He kept adding to the list of daily must-haves.
So now I take fish oil as a blood thinner (I have a clotting disorder and don't tolerate asprin too well) and l-lysine to manage my shingles outbreaks.
All other nutrients come from my excellent diet.

Yes. But when my hospital-based specialist says I must explore all options before surgery and makes me an appt, I figure I should go (or end up on a hella-long waiting list).
The only thing I have refused is the chiropractor. Hopefully, that doesn't penalise me.
