So recently, a friend forwarded me a submissions call with the theme of food and sex. Now, I'm nowhere near publication polish, but it got me thinking about the relationship between the two.
So then here's my question: Is there any food that just puts you in the mood?

I wrote a story about a sous chef and a baker who have a little competition. It was a tough story to write only because I had to figure out what they were going to make that was, in turn, going to lead to putting them both in the mood. It was really hard to decide.

Which I suppose is to say that just about anything dish from a four-star restaurant can get you in the mood.

If I had to pick one thing, however, I think I'll always go back to chocolate. At one fine restaurant, not too long ago, they had on the dessert menu an "Old fashioned hot chocolate." Had to try it, right? They brought over a little tea pot of cocoa, and there were cocoa dusted mashmallows and homemade graham crackers and whipped cream, of course, and the hot chocolate was incredibly rich, utterly fantastic. I blissed out. Talk about being put into the mood....

So many blurts have gone there...

Food is sensual.

For me it's not so much what someone eats, but how they eat it. ;)

I can't think of any food right now, but champagne usually does it for me. Not necessarily for the alcohol content, but for the bubbles, mouth feel, special glasses, that little Sigh when the bottle opens, etc. The very celebratory nature and rituals involved in champagne. A signal for a special evening.

Mmm... we need a drooling icon.

I loved that story. :)

I did a story with creative use of pizza toppings once. You can find it here. The title is Lunch Time.

I love sharing sweet, cold, crisp and juicy watermelon on a hot summers day with a lover.

In the winter, chicken cabonara. But not too much...it can weigh you down and make you sleepy.

I quite agree with this. I actually mentioned that in my "Slightly Strange Turn-ons" thread. I was at a restaurant and saw this slightly attractive woman. She was eating a big ol' burger and really enjoying it. Needless to say she went from slightly attractive to HOT in a few bites. I have seen a few TV commercial that take advantage of that, they show cute women really digging into a meal...

I think it is because in my mind, enjoying food shows that you enjoy your senses, and the senses are a very important part of "sensual."

Take BIG bites!

I really meant what puts you in the mood when you are the one eating it. For me, as much as I like chocolate, a piece of nice, tender, juicy, slightly bloody steak gets more than my mouth drooling. I don't know what it is, but it just gets to me. If I add a glass of Merlot or Pinot Noir, I can't be held accountable for my actions.

Eating has never gotten me in the mood, not even a little. If anything, eating sates all my appetites.

If by "mood" you mean "make ole Sal's motor run", then watching a girl eat a banana the naughty way is a sure fire 100% hell yes and twice on sunday.

For just a plate of food, Dude's Steak Burritos (recipe available through PM) because of its intrinsic festive nature, Chicken Breast Marsala, or Shrimp and Scallops Alfredo with white wine.

I find interesting that a few guys immediately took this as a question about: "watching a girl eat something" that puts them in the mood--as compared to actually eating something.

None of the ladies seemed to see it that way. I can understand why...but it makes me wonder. Is a guy chowing down ever sexy? ;)

Well, I said that, too, but I was thinking more along the lines of watching another woman. I'm not even bi, but I can surely admit that sometimes watching another woman eat can be sexy.

I noticed that too.

As for a guys eating sexily, it's possible. My SO loves to eat me, and anytime he eats any type of juicy fruit, he'll lick, and slurp, and be messy, all the while looking at me. I find it sexy only because of how very obvious his intent is.

Yes, especially if it's something I've obviously taken special time and care in preparing. It just shows appreciation for my efforts. Good table manners are always a big check in the plus column for guys.

I've been told I'm sexy when I eat an ice cream cone. Evidently I have a talented tongue. And I confess, there was one moment, the girl behind the counter was "my type" and I caught her watching me, so I exaggerated the licks and then winked at her to watch her blush.

Beluga Caviar. Not that I have it often, but it has to be Beluga.

Yeah, it's fish eggs, but I love the texture, testicular-like yumminess :p .

Grushenka (that's the clue ;) )

Were you the one staring at my hard nipples every time I bent over to scoop ice cream when I worked at the ice cream parlor in high school? The open freezer made for quite a view, I'm afraid!

ummmmmmm if you worked at a Baskins Robbins in Cape Coral in 1990, yes it was me.

Must not have been you. My perv was strictly a butter pecan kind of man.
