This type of thing would be predictable from the enemies of freedom. I think a big problem is that the numbers are presented with no context. We know the disease is bad for certain people for reasons that are poorly understood. The majority of people have very mild symptoms. If we are going to concern ourselves with the fudging of numbers, focus your energy on Prince Andrew in New York.
The key is that any good news or good outcome must be squashed. The people must live in fear. It's a good thing that Americans are not a fearful people.

Counting Covid deaths isn't easy. Each country has a different method, and US states differ too.

I wouldn't point a finger at any organization that might think their previous stats are wrong.

The UK measure is 'death within 28 days of a positive Covid test result' - but 29 days? Not tested?

Another measure is the number of deaths above what would have been a normal average. All those might not be Covid but some could have been caused by Covid preventing a timely diagnosis of another problem.

Our 'excess death' figure has flattened out and is almost back to what would be considered normal, but that has been distorted by a major drop in influenza this winter.

The British health statisticians keep examining and reassessing the data sets. All they can really say is that we have lost about 125,000 people to Covid and other causes, but 126,000? 124,000? We may never know.- -except that it isn't 200,000.
