BUMP

Greeting to everyone. Just another day in paradise here in the southern part of the state. Can you believe this brilliant weather we are having?? Must be why there's been no activity on this thread, everyone is out enjoying the sunshine and mild temps.
Hope all have a great weekend!

-kym- taking in a bit o' sun too

NW Florida

Top of the Mornin' My Floridian Friends!!!

What a wonderful weekend it's turning out to be...sunshine everywhere! I def'nately be beachin' it today, should be fun.
Time to tan the bod!

:rose: G'Day Miss Kym---in my thoughts, always:kiss:

G'day Fellow Floridians

Must agree with Don, its an absolutely stunning day outside!! I plan to get out into the sunshine presently myself. Just as soon as I can get out of these work clothes and into something a bit more suitable.
Hope all are able to enjoy the wonderful weather today!

Don, hand me the lotion and I'll make sure your back is covered. ;)

-kym- glistening in the sun

Florida sunshine

I'm jealous of those who can go in the sun so much. I used to enjoy it too, then I got this great big old mole on my butt and it had to be cut out.

I swear the doctor stiched her initials in my butt when she sewed it back up. I would say more, but it is too difficult to turn that far to see it. LOL. Just call me tanless.

Waterkemist, its no great thing to be tanned. I've always been tanned from working in the sun and spending so much time outdoors. If its any consolation, some of my family simply don't tan. Too much Celtic blood in them. Fair skin, redhair, and freckles. Me? I take after my Dad's side. They're dark from the native blood.
You could always use Tan in a can. I know, its not the real thing, but I've seen those who use it and it looks very real. I think the manifacterors have developed the formula now so that it isn't all streaky looking and is the same colour as a natural tan is. Its pretty reasonable in price too.

~~laughing~~ I can well sympathise with you about your surgery scar. I have several myself. Only two of them are hidden by my suit though. Fortunetly, the ones that can be seen when I am sunning are small.

Good seeing your post Wk, this thread needs all the bumping it can get. Don't want it getting buried down on page 7 again! :(

Be well and hope the remander of your weekend is great! :rose:

-kym- oooo, I think perhaps I should have turned sooner :(

Fun in the Sun

I can see by your AV that maybe you should have turned sooner. Let me know if you need that sunscreen rubbed in. I'll make time.

Welcome to the Florida post Thaira---I'm sure you and your lady will find someone that suits your...er...tastes. Quite diverse, we are.

G'Day WK...I don't actually tan, I just kind of flash fry myself, but not too much. I just go and scare away the Casper the Ghost effect. When I was a much younger surf-bum, stylin' in Hang Ten suits and mellowin' to Beach Boys, I had quite the scare with melanoma. All came out OK. Best respect our sun mother or she will bite you.

:rose: As always, my fair Kym  Perhaps a little lotion on the front now? :rose:

Morning ALL

Thought I'd check-in since Kym's wondering where we all went. As for me, I was fishing all day Friday and Sunday. Very productive. Now, if I could land a mermaid.... .

Giving this thread a little~~~~ BUMP!

Hey Ya'll!! How everyone's haing a good Monday, mine is OK> Nothing great by any means, but it is a holiday week, so I will only have to work 4 days! YIPPEE!! :D

Greetings Kevin and wife. Thanks for saying hello and I'm sure ya'll will find someone who is interested in getting together with ya'll. Not me I'm afraid, I have my kinks, but other women aren't one of 'em. I love men! Yep, that's me, a connoisseur of men. :p

Wk and Don, as always your offer is too sweet! Wish I would have had someone to rub some lotion on me, its a bite trying to wrap my arms around to get that spot in the middle of my back. Besides, its nice to feel a man's hands touching my body. MMMMMM  ~~laughing~~ But then, I don't think we would be worring about sunning, would we??

Bill, Did you catch the big one?? The mother of all redfish? Yesterday was a beautiful day out and I'm happy to know that you were pursuing your passion and being successful whilst at it!
One day I need to drive up there and go fishing with you. If you don't mind my borrowing your rod, that is. ;)

Well I'm off to other interests now, hope everyone enjoys the rest of the day!

-kym- Still thinking of Wk and Don's hands with that lotion  And using Bill's rod....:D

Hello -kym-,
Keeping the thread alive I see. Now fishing, I have not been fishing in years........Nothing like fighting a big redfish, I used to catch 18 to 20 pounders in the Indian River Lagoon.......What a lot of fun that was.:) those fish would give you a 30 to 45 minute fight.

Of course fishing always provides a great opportunity for all those.."master....baiter" quips.:)

Greetings J.R., on this terrific Tuesday afternoon! Why is it terrific you ask?? Because its my Friday!! :D Yippee! I'm off for the next two days! No getting up at 12:30 in the morning to drag myself into work, no dealing with anyone I don't want to deal with, no having to be polite because its my job. OK, well, I do try and be polite, but some folks really test me on that one.:(

J.R., I've fished in the Indian River Lagoon for Reds and Snook too. But, like yourself, its been some time since I've had the opportunity to get my bait wet. Working the hours and days I work, there's no one to fish with. Everyone I know goes on the weekends when I'm working. And I haven't been to the Lagoon since it was in the news a few years ago with all of the problems concerning the pollution of the water. :( Typical of the environ here in Florida; those who don't appreciate it pollute it or change it to suit their needs. Just look at anyplace around our once beautiful state. From the Keys to the Panhandle, its all the same. Oh dear, don't get me going! I'll be ranting here for hours if I get started!

J.R.; How was the walk in the woods on Sunday?? I thought of you when I went for my bike ride and passed places that used to be woods not so very long ago, but now have some form of building on them. Hmmm, I'd better just leave this entire topic alone today, I feel in the mood to rant. :p

Bill,Don, and Wk, hope that all are having a great day and your week is progressing well.
Bill is fishing I bet, and Don?? He may well have joined Bill now that he is unemployed. Perhaps J.R. and I should go visit them, and then we could all be "Master Baiters" ;) ~~laughing~~ although, I'm more of a sub.......

Be well everyone and have a fantastic day!

-kym- a "Sub" Baiter :p ~laughing~

Hello Florida!!

Haven't stopped here for awhile. Hope all are well!!

Even if they take it all away, it can be retrieved........the River Thames in England was polluted for almost two centuries, no fish could live in it, a chemical wasteland. Then they decided to clean it up, it took about three decades and in 1973 they had the first salmon run in 200 years in that river. I do not know if you can eat those fish :D but you get my meaning....all is not lost.:)

he...he..he..does this mean I can make you bait my hook? Durn! if I have to ask then that makes me a lousy master.....I will never get the hang of this.....

By all means rant and rave:) I, for one, would love to hear what you say. But I understand if you donot, I get sad from dwelling on things of this nature and life has enough sorrow on which one can dwell.

Since we posted here, I have been to two wilderness areas....both of which have ancient Trees, how wonderful!
In this part of the state most of the forest and cypress were cut down in the 1880's to 1910.....I believe the St.Johns River basin used to be a mass of ancient Cypress it is hard to find any now much less old trees. But yesterday I saw a magnificient old Cypress with a trunk of enormous girth. I made me happy that a few remnants exist and the "old ones" are still with us.

Take care, JR

~~laughing~~ No J.R, if you have to ask.... you are not a Master at all. but.... no prob. I'd still bait you if you wished. ;)

I know that the environment can be cleaned up and restored to its once natural state, but only when there are people in power who wish to see it happen. Do you think we have that here in Florida with our current political machine? I think those who are in the position to see funds allocated to such a monumental restoration and preservation are more concerned with lining their own pockets through contracts that benefit themselves and not the good of the state. Cynical yes, but all one needs to do is look to our current head of state to see how the developement of natural landscape gives power. OK< stepping off of my soap box again.

I love seeing the "old ones" too. But as you can imagine, they are few and far between here in the south. I know they still exist in the centre and northern part of our glorious state and have in fact seen their beauty in the past. Canoeing the Peace River and the Loxahatchee have given me the opportunity to view such grand specimens. I also had the chance to see some rare beauties on the Suwanee, but haven't traversed it in a canoe yet. One fine day I shall though!
Its weird, but when you place your hands on such a tree, its as if you can almost feel its life force beneath your palms. Lol, yea..... I'm a tree hugger! :p They're a little on the rough side, but well worth the {{hug}}
{{HUGS}} to you J.R. and have a great day!

ALRIIIIIGHT!!

YESSSSS, an environmental debate!!! God bless America and Long Live the Great State of Florida.

:rose: As always, Kym :rose:

The plight of the Aquatic Cypress is a sad, sad story. There are areas only in South Carolina where the old ones can actually be called a forest. Harvesting is only permitted in order to increase the overall growth of the sub-system and it is vigorously monitored. Harvesting may sound like fingernails across the blackboard to some but it is not. I absolutely agree with JR, all hope is not lost. Mother earth has a remarkable way of healing itself if you allow it.

Not that I disagree totally, sweet Kym, but Florida will never return to it's natural state. As the seminole population increased from 3000 to 6000 the natural state changed, then to 12000. Resources were thinned to a point; food, fish, wildlife. Imagine for a minute that there were no Spanish, no French, no English and the native american population is increased in the state to 25 million. We are well schooled, we have health care, we are entertained. Progress is not white oriented. Neither is stupidity.

All populations hit a wall. A point where it demands more than it is willing to replenish. I have extreme faith that we can heal our landscape. We can absolutely recede behind that wall. Trust me, it CAN be done. It is the fault of all of our society not just the money changers. The ARE indeed puppets, but we are the puppeteers. I cannot imagine hauling my bark shell canoe by wagon all the way to Swanee for a relaxing float nor do I want to.
So I must conserve, give back, replenish all plus an inch that which I consume in a day. In fact do it twice, cover for a stupid person.

God I love this website...great stories, too.

In England it took a couple of hundreds years....we may have to wait for a more favorable political climate.

You know on the north end of Lake Okeechobee, Florida Power and Light owns some land that they have preserved as a public relations project, The tract of land has some of the oldest trees in the country, some of the cypress there have the girth of redwoods, they used to have a boardwalk and I think you had to call ahead for them to let you in but it was astounding to me when I was there in1980, I forget the name of the place but it was in or next to Martin County off of SR441.
I am a tree hugger too! I use to go camping up on the Suwanee River years ago, it was a lovely place :)

donlslc You live in a wonderful part of the state. The panhandle of Florida has some of the last vestiges of undisturbed old growth forest in the south, there have been reports(non official of course) of the Ivory-billed Woodpecker there. :)

subject change

Started this morning laughing, don't mean to change the subject. I recieved this from my older bro, he tends to delightfully strange at times. Enjoy!

(Hardly seems worth it.)

Changing the subject for a mo....
Are ya'll aware that Deliverance is celebrating its 30th. anniversary??
I saw this in our local paper the other day along with an interview with Burt. He's teaching acting in Jupitar and was telling how in Dec. of 02 he was reunited with all of the guys for a photo shoot at Jonathan Dickenson State Park to mark the anniversary. I was floored to think its been that long! Oh dear...... does this mean I'm getting......>gasp< older???

Back to more pleasant things to ponder...... I like pigs who think like a lion, have strong tongues and..... swim like a dolphin! :D
I think I've pretty much covered it all there.

Hello Tamman, pull up a lawnchair, and make yourself at home. We're a happy lot, well.... except for Bedaddy that is. :( Sorry Bedaddy, but can't help you with your rant. Perhaps you need to carry it to a "higher" authority?

Hi to Don,Bill, and J.R. Hope that your day is going well and you're ready for the holiday weekend!
