Lipstick (7/10)

I picked myself up once more and dusted the debris from my body. Central City sometimes seems to be nothing if not layer upon layer of soot, dust, grime, and bits of broken glass. I looked around briefly for my hat, but marked it down as lost.

I helped Barbara to her feet and the two began waking others. Once we had a good handful, we went ahead and turned over the Silver Samurai.

We then checked on the day's villains.

"It's not natural," I said, "for a Raccoon to be wearing lipstick."

Barbara rolled her eyes. "And a squirrel wearing a trenchcoat is?"

"Darn. I forgot my lipstick."

"Here, use mine."

"Cheryl, we need to talk."

"Sure hon, what about?"

"I...I love you."

"I love you too Susan. We're friends."

"No. I mean I'm in love with you. I desire you. I want you."

"Susan! I don't know what to say. How long have...?"

"Over a year. Please Cheryl, can I kiss you? Please."

"Ahhh...okay...mmmmmm..."

"Hold me Cheryl. I've waited so long."

"In the end stall, Susan. Hurry!"

"Ooohh...Cheryl...That feels so good..."

"Susannn...oh god...do me harder..."

"What's with women and bathrooms?"

"Takes forever. Girl talk probably."

Lipstick

This one doesn't count because it it is a reprint, but I liked it. :D

So sue me..... :p

Lipstick

Simple, deft motions
apply her lipstick.
Years of practice
have made her expert.

Pursing her lips
she slides one lip
against the other,
evening the coat.

Frowning slightly,
manicured fingernail traces a line,
removing a stray pattern
only she can see.

Seeing his tousled reflection
watching her from the bed,
she makes eye contact,
smiles at him.

Turning from the mirror,
she catches up her coat and purse,
offers a finger wave,
quietly leaves the room.

He listens for the click
of the door closing,
rolls over,
goes back to sleep.

Lipstick

Jessica stood at the cosmetics counter. She didn't shop in the expensive stores, but since her promotion, she decided to treat herself. She studied the myriad colors of lipstick when 'Rochelle: Cosmetics Consultant' appeared. Jessica perched on a stool as various shades were applied. The choices narrowed to three, but she couldn't decide.

"I just can't choose, Rochelle."

"The last color," someone said.

Turning, she saw a man smiling.

"You think so?"

"It's your color. It suits you."

"I'll take it."

Ten minutes later, they had coffee. Four months later, they married. 'Serendipity' became her favorite shade.

Nice one, Tom. I have an idea already. I'm hoping it'll be there in the morning when I next get a chance to write.

Thanks glynndah.

Jot that idea down on the back of an envelope.

Lee sat down on the cold, stone floor to catch his breath. His hand was still shaking as it gripped the six shooter pistol, the metal still warm from all the rounds he had fired.

"No time to rest, Lee."

Looking up, he saw the reflection of himself. Only now he was dressed as a knight, a large sword and shield in his hands.

"More adventures is it?" Lee asked with a sigh.

"Are you complaining?" His reflection asked.

"Never." Lee smiled and stood, he became the knight, and the words that told of his deeds flowed like water from his fingers to the pen.

"Mommy. Somethings at the window."

"Don't make me come in there."

"Mommy. They're coming after me."

"Danny. Puh-lease."

"They have big red eyes. Long teeth. Claws."

"Oh for goodness sake. Go to sleep."

"They want to take me with them."

"Danny, I've had enough. Be quiet."

"Nooooo...go away...leave me alone...Mommeeeeeee..."

“This is your pilot speaking. We’re cleared for takeoff. Enjoy your flight.”

“Remember, everyone. No smoking on the plane. Pay attention. Here’s how to fasten your seatbelts. It’s very important. If we crash, you’ll die if you’re not buckled up. Hey, you! Stop chewing that gum and listen. Yeah, I’m talking to you. Thank you. I’m not standing here for nothing. It’s important.”

“Stephanie, just give the warnings so we can take off. Everyone wants to go.”

“You’re not the boss of me. I’m leaving and I’m taking Puff and Rascal and my dolls with me.”

“Mom! She’s ruining everything!”

“What would happen if the sun suddenly exploded?”

“We’d die.”

“Okay, what would happen if the moon suddenly exploded?”

“Why would the moon explode?”

“Never mind that. What would happen?”

“How the hell do I know? Well, there wouldn’t be any tides.”

“Would it be low tide or high tide?”

“I don’t know. You’re the writer. Just decide if it’s low tide or high tide. Just write it however you want.”

Moonrise was to occur at 9:30, a spectacular sight with the full moon looming orange over the coastal islands. But the oceans had disappeared. The moon wouldn’t be coming.

At night, in bed, he imagined her there. In his dreams, she called to him and begged him to touch her. Soon it would be her sweet lips wrapped around him. His heart raced at the thought of her hands exploring his heated body. He craved the sound of his name on her lips. He could almost feel her curled at his side. In the mornings, when he woke, he swore it was her taste on his tongue and her smell left in his bed. He longed for everything she offered. He even imagined how he was going to propose.

I hear that song on the radio; you know the one I’m talking about. The one we’ve both decided is our song. I imagine that look in your eyes, sultry and deep and dark with the promise of what’s to come and I write. I imagine your mouth on mine, hot and wet, tongues tangling, and I write. I imagine your hands, calloused and a bit rough, caressing me, sliding and gliding and skimming over my body and I write. I imagine your body, salty and sweaty and hard, on mine, in mine and I write. Oh, how I write.

Engine 66 hurtled down the rails, Engineer Larson pushing the throttle forward. The emergency medicines had to get through, the flood victims needed them. They thundered across Three Mile Trestle. Would the timbers hold? "She's swayin'. We won't make it," hollered the fireman. Larsen smiled, they would make it. The trestle collapsed as the last car crossed. "You're the best engineer I ever rode with," gasped the fireman. Larsen chuckled, now they could save hundreds of lives...

"Petey, you've been on there long enough. Get off that ride. I wanna see some more of this carnival."

"Okay Sis, I'm comin'."

Each day through my window
I watch her as she passes by
I say to myself
You're such a lucky guy
To have a girl like her
Is truly a dream come true
Out of all the fellas in the world
She belongs to you
But it was just my imagination
Running away with me
But it was just my imagination
Running away with me….

I never met her
But I can't forget her
Just my imagination
Running away with me
Oooh, just my imagination
Running away with me
.. it was just my imagination

"Just My Imagination" …. The Temptations

9 of 10 Imagination

Imagination is a dangerous thing to taste. I lingered too long in its sweetness; now it’s gone bitter. I never thought these imaginings could become reality. That liquor and loneliness could shred our love. It was only a fantasy… to hold my son, intimately. Only in my head. His gentle fingers cupping my breast. Only in my head. But now, his sweat’s in my bed, his bag’s packed, he’s closing the door, not looking back. This imagination is bile in my throat. It’s a bullet that’s been loaded. And shot. Let my body slump onto the sheets, stained with sin.

A man walks alone across a hot desert floor
When the moon rises up from wayward shores
Still the heat remains

A thirsty bird far out at sea
Where water stretches out as far as its eyes can see
Still the thirst remains

I love
Unrequited
Still the Love remains.
Hot and Thirst and Love
Who can forsake such pains?

Not I, Not I -No Not I.
-Me

"The only way to get rid of temptation is to yield to it. Resist it, and your soul grows sick with longing for the things it has forbidden to itself, with desire for what its laws had made unlawful. "
