Firsts

The sixth-grade presidency. Yet I tried.

FTY got an erection.

Woke up one morning and bam, there it was. He’s been my constant companion ever since. Has never let me down though he lies like a mother fucker about what is a good idea. But he’s got a real poker (hah) face, so it’s hard to tell when he’s lying..

First one night stand?

First big fight you got into?

First time you remember thinking you might truly die?

Plane crash.

First time you remember missing someone?

I grew up on military bases, we moved a lot. I've always missed people.. Between soldiers not coming home, or moving and leaving friends behind. But the most memorable one was when I was 14 and my big brother was killed.

First lost loved one.

My grandma when I was 12. She got diagnosed with lung cancer and I just remember I wouldn’t leave her house except to go to school and then I’d come right back to her. She lived across the street from me and we were extremely close. One of the last things I remember hearing her say to my mom were, “Is Sues mad at me for leaving her?” I had a super hard time because doctors cured my cancer, but they couldn’t cure hers. I remember my mom waking me up around 2 am and telling me she was gone. I didn’t go back to school for awhile. It still makes me sad when I think about it.

First heartbreak?

I'm so sorry to hear about your grandmother- it's hard to lose them when you're close.

My first heartbreak was when I caught my first "love" in a lie - a lie he didn't even need to tell.

First big purchase?

In fifth grade; went to the Hermes store in the duty free and spent all the money I'd been given for my trip to buy a pocket scarf and leather gum case.

First run in with the cops?

Age 14 on a street corner in Hull. Just a group of lads, not doing any harm, but an old lady wasn't comfortable with us there.

First property purchase?

Ok let’s try....
First time you ever had to go to the hospital?

Aside from being born... I think I was 3. Easter morning. My dad told me to get up because we were going to his mom's house. I couldn't get up and couldn't explain why. He tried to set me on the floor. I yanked my legs up and wouldn't stand. There was unbearable pain.

I remember him dressing me because I couldn't do it. He carried me to the car, yelling at me to stop faking it.

We got to grandma's house and she yelled at him. Told him to take me to the hospital. They found nothing. By the next morning, I felt fine but I had to go to the Dr. for a Spinal Tap. That turned up nothing.

Oddly enough, my friend had something similar happen. Her mom said it was a form of polio that's effects only lasted 24 hours.

First bee sting?

I was pretty young, guessing around 3-4, running around in the yard and stepped on a bee by accident.

First vacation that you paid for yourself?

Panama City Florida after high school.

First time on an airplane.

First vacation that you paid for yourself?

A trip to Berlin. But I guess it wasn’t a LOT because I was already living in a relatively nearby country. I had also gone to New York City alone on my own dime many times to visit friends but that’s not really a ‘vacation’ as much as a 90 min train ride. Berlin, I got the plane ticket and hotel and went alone.

First favorite movie?

High school - concert at a very small punk club. That Old E. Man, I tell ya.

First time you were a ‘wing man’?

20, with a work colleague. He'd been mine the weekend before and done a great job, so it was only fair I returned the favour.

First favorite movie?

The Adventures of Robin Hood - Korngold's stirring music and, of course, Olivia de Havilland.

Edit: So caught up in thoughts of beautiful Olivia, I forgot a question - see below.

Tap dancing at the county fair when I was 3 or 4.

First hero who wasn't a parent, grandparent, or sibling?

This was probably the handy man, Scotty. He had a story for everything, taught me how to drive, and told me that ‘doohickey’ or ‘thingamabob’ are acceptable descriptors for tools if you know how to use them correctly.

First time you had to fix something by yourself/with minimal help?
