Well .....its actually somewhat true that if men are from Mars then women must be from Venus. What you consider as dumb in that guy is actually a deep love of that guy for your friend. Probably he did not express it the correct way .. but in a level he was just being truthful. At some stage a relationship reaches a level where it becomes just trust and love and a deep sense of possession. Sex then just become a routine excercise , just like another necessary body function. You indulge in sex not cause you are horny for your wife but just cause its another physical activity.

Probably your friend is actually putting on some weight.... but he did propose to marry her can't you see that ?? ...... i think he is a keeper. He loves her not for her looks. He has stopped seeing her like just another object of desire but more of as a family member who will never leave each other. Haven't you ever told your family members that they are getting fat ?? did you actually meant to hurt them or was actually being truthful ?? will you stop loving your parents or siblings or children cause they are getting fat ??

I've never bluntly told my mother "you're getting fat, but oh, you can still make me dinner!" No.

I think saying that he proposed marriage to her was reading waaaay to far into it. And while it is true that sex becomes routine, I would hope that after approx a year of fucking, you would still get turned on by your significant others' body. She's actually lost weight. He's a tool.

You pretty much took the words right out of my mouth. Even if she hasn't lost weight, he's a douche. I was in a very long relationship (as you know), and years into it, we were still hot for each other. If the desire isn't there, something's wrong. And to say, in essence, "Well, you're not sexy to me anymore, but I'll still let you bear my children" is pretty insulting.
