hello all, so ive been here for quite some time and im thinking about writing my own story. but i do have some questions being that i am a newbie. So first off im wondering how hard it is to be accepted by the site......2nd is that i am having some trouble getting a good title for my story. Also im not even sure which category i would put my story in, or even how to submit it to the site.

thanks for your help

Hello and welcome, we're a friendly bunch :)

Submitting a story i easy, when you log in you need to click on "submissions" then "submit" and then "submit a story"

the best way to submit your story is to cut and paste it into the box provided.

As to titles, I suck at those. :p

When you ask about ease of submission do you mean how to find the actual submission forms or whether you'd be accepted?

As for titles - don't start there. Call it 'Story 1', write it, then when you've written it you might find something springs to mind naturally.

As for category - some people, like me, find it easiest to pick a category and try and come up with a story that fits that category. Others think of a character or an event, write the story around that and *then* find a category it could sort of fit into. Not knowing you at all, or the way you write, I can;t advise you as to this bit - just do what works for you :)

If you get stuck, come back and ask again. We're friendly, we'll help if we can.

im wondering if its pretty tough to be accepted

Sure. Learn your place and smooch a lot of butt, and you'll be fine.

If you don't break any rules and you write with some kind of punctuation and readability, you'll be in :)

What she said.

If in doubt then advertise for an editor or beta reader to give you some feedback *before* you submit.

Most important thing is to get writing. Worry about all this stuff once it's written :)

Not really - he AH has reasonably low standards. :)

As far as stories go, stay away from bestiality and people under 18 having sex and you should be fine.

Categories are usually pretty easy, but some are very particular. For instance, if your story has any sort of sex between family members, it will have to go in Incest. Even if you request that it go into Erotic Couplings, it will most likely still be posted in Incest. The same thing goes for Nonconsent/Reluctance and Celebrity stories.

The only category that supercedes all others is Novels and Novellas, but your story has to have a minimum of 7,500 words to make it into that category.

Titles can be tricky. I have some good ones and some atrocious ones, I'll admit. But as V said, best to write the story, then think of a title after you're done.

And, as said above, stay away from describing sex between minors (anyone under the age of 18). Laurel and Manu are adamant on this and will refuse to post stories if there is any mention of underaged kids bumping uglies. ;)

Have fun and stop back into the AH now and then. We can have a lot of fun in here at times.

Before you ask or get frustrated, allow me to pre-emptively say that it takes about two weeks for your first story to post once you've submitted it.

Good call ;)

Otherwise, he might have incurred the wrath of JJ :p

Go to this link to submit a story: http://members.literotica.com:81/members/submissions_submit.php

To find that link in its natural habitat, go to th story index page and click on the login link at the top right of the page then look at the left side of your members' page for the "submissions" section.

It is harder to get a story accepted here than at many other sites, but that's because has standards of for both technical quality and content.

Others have addressed the undera-age and bestiality restrictions. There is also the "No Rapist Fantasies" problem if you're inclined to write non-consent/reluctant stories.

For a general, run-of-the-mill story about two adults getting hot and bothered, technical difficulties cause more probelms than content: IOW, Spelling counts and you need to have more than one or two paragraphs/1,000 words.

The best advice on writing I ever got was: "Sit down and write until you run out of words. Then go back and delete the two-thirds that is total crap and edit the remainder into a story."

Ooo . . . complete with sexy glasses and the loose, white, button-down blouse?

I do have pretty cool glasses but I'm not so much on the white button-down blouses. The only one I have is the one I used in those avs. I'm more the tailored look with low necklines type of librarian.

Great. Now I'm gonna have to write a librarian fantasy story :p

I would have to say that other then was previously stated about incest, the overwhelming theme of the story should be the guide as to which category to submit to. I have had stories that were moved to another category then what I submitted it into. Obviously the editor that reviewed the story disagreed with my opinion as to which category it belonged in. What I thought was a minor theme, he/she though was more significant in this particular story's case. I think that is rare though. Many of my stories have a story line that could could put them into multiple categories. For example, my most recent story involved BDSM, group, anal, toys, and loving wives. However, BDSM was the primary theme.

I try to avoid a couple of the "catch-all" categories such as erotic coupling and loving wives because they are too generic. My suggestion is to look at your story and ask yourself which story category do you think your target reader is most likely to be looking for it in. Readers tend to key in to certain categories.
