I would strongly recommend spending some time in the Writer's Resources section of the site. You'll find all sorts of helpful guidance there, everything from grammar to "Helpful Hints for New Authors." I would also recommend going to the Top List, choosing your favorite category and reading some of the stories posted there. They are not necessarily the best stories on the site, but most of them are well written. Pay attention as you read them to how the author draws you in and puts the story together. You'll get a lot of insight on how to structure and present a story from those resources.
