I'm always surprised by how much non-ordinary cherry loss (m or f) there is in the category. Some of it makes sense to put in FT (eg a lesbian first time giving a man a bj of which there seem to be a lot ). Otherwise first time anal would be better in anal AFAIC First threesome in group etc.

First time anything is OK, I think--IF you make that clear in the story description slug. I think most readers do come to it with the understanding it will be first-time penetration.

It could mean the first time for that particular couple. I just did one of those, and the participants are not inexperienced. The readers accepted it.

There are some trumps, of course. For instance, gay male in FT is perhaps doable, but with or without warnings and tags, is likely to draw fire. Incest is another. Heavy BDSM, too.

That said, Em, it’s your story and you can put it wherever you want. Of course, it then becomes your job to convince the reader that it belongs there.

A standard boy-girl office romance could easily go in Romance (lots more flexibility there than many suppose; it doesn’t have to be saccharine). There’s scope for it in Humour. And the idea of ‘our first threesome’ in FT is not impossible.

Still, when most readers open a FT yarn, they are looking for heterosexual loss of virginity. I’ve had comments suggesting that some readers are more expecting it to be the woman’s first time, too, not the man’s. Would an ‘experienced’ woman having her first in-office sex fit in FT? Yes, but you’re going to have to sell that choice to readers expecting something else.

IMHO, you might want to give Romance a roll.

That was the original intent, but it’s drifted since the site started. Not as much as LW, but still. It’s mostly about first times having sex, but you’ll regularly see first time cheating, first time with a man/woman, first time as a hot wife, etc. And those stories can still do well there, sometimes better than in their “main” category.

Subtle but difficult questions. In my own experience, my stories in EC, BDSM, Toys and Masturbation, etc., almost all have some emotional connections; they are not just hook-ups. I know Romance readers hate breakup stories, but most series have to end with one. (It isn't 1910 any longer.) I'd say anything where sex is described but not depicted (it happened in the past) or is going to happen in the future but is not also depicted fit best in Romance. Certain factors - like BDSM, homosexuality, etc., - would override that and probably go into their respective categories.
