I still crochet but the girls in my crocheting and knitting class want to teach me how to knit. I'm nervous. I don't pick up things easily.

Any knitters out there???? Give me some tips, please????

Show me your work if you want to.

Technically I know how to knit...or rather I used to, but I was never good at it. My hand eye coordination was less than sufficient. But if you're good at crocheting you should very easily be able to pick it up :)

Knitting is like 5 million times easier then crocheting. There are only 2 knit stitches as opposed to infinity crochet stitches. And the patterns make fucking sense. You'll be amazed how easy it is.

Fucking slow compared to crochet though.

But it drapes a lot better. If you're really vain, like I am, and prefer your clothes to contour to your body. knit ribbing is going to be your friend.

Knitting is easy, it's just 2 stitches alternating. The problem with knitting compared to crochet is not that it's difficult, it's that it's much slower.

Once-ler knits thneed's.

I knitted many many years ago. Sweaters, cardigans. Changing colors. Two colors at once...fabulous European yarns. Even a suede sweater. It had very large stitches and I wore a tank or camisole underneath.

Thank you for being one of fucking five people on this board who get that.

I crochet. I can knit, but hate it.
Knitting is much more difficult in that you if you don't keep the yarn tension exactly right it shows up glaringly in the finished garment.

Hi pink ... actually I found knitting to be much harder than crochet. If you mess up in crochet you just unravel back. In knitting if you lose a stitch it can be a huge hassle.

A poncho I knit a few years ago ...

All you do is grab a crochet hook and pick it back up.

I'll let you all know how it goes. Like I said I don't pick things up quickly.

Cookie, that is gorgeous.

I taught myself to crochet and knit using YouTube videos and a few craft books. I didn't find either of them difficult to learn. Knitting is not as forgiving as crochet, but it does make much nicer garments.

I've attached two pics, the sweater was my third or fourth project.

Lovely work! My mom taught me to knit but I learned how to crochet from a book.

I knit a great deal. I taught myself from books a number of years ago. If you understand the mechanics of crochet you should be able to grasp knitting. I recommend starting with an easy pattern, a cowl, size 10-10 1/2 US and some worsted weight yarn. Try Ravelry or Knitting pattern Central and Lion Yarns for patterns. I taught myself Crochet stitches, Knitting techniques and Spinning by books. It can be done. Have fun.

Thanks :)
I had no choice but to teach myself. I'm a lefty and mom and grandma are righties. I couldn't grasp what they were doing, with my backwards brain.

I am finding this out.

Crocheting right now alone on a Saturday night.

Jusr filled to the brim with self loathing. How the fuck did my life come to this? I need some blankets and thought it might keep the anger at bay. That rhythmic, methodical almost zen-like repition. If it doesn't work i'll work out but this was the lazy option.

Also talking to the ex I was madly in love with, so at least there's that.

Oh, here's some of my knitted shit

Is that one of the knockers from labrynth?[/QUOTE]

Nah, it's one of our Injin things. It's the spirit of the forest, the name translates to "little deer" or "spirit deer" or "ghost deer". It was a gift for my grandma.
