First Day Jitters

Larry heard the bell ring, and stood up slowly. He ripped the drawing out of his sketchbook, and walked over to Leilana, and set it on her desk, then turned to look at Dante. "Larry Theron, nice to meet you." He turned and walked back to his desk, and picked up his stuff, packing it up in his backpack. He shouldered it, and headed for his next class.

Leilana chuckled, she knew Joshua, he had been rather jittery around her the past few years. But he had never said more than hello or goodbye...a few odd comments here and there and even fewer conversations outside of school related things. "He's just being Joshua is all." she told Dante with a giggle.

Smiling to Larry, she looked the picture over blushing slightly. She wasn't much into comic books but everyone should know Betsy fairly well. "Thank..." well he had left before she could properly thank him. Putting the paper with the rest of her things she smiled and turned to Dante.

They headed off to the next class, bumping into friends along the way. She introduced Dante to some of her people, mostly semi-geeks and bookworms but they were all pretty friendly.

"So what's it like in Brooklyn? Anything exciting?" she asked shifting her bag on her shoulder more comfortably.

OOC: I think you're doing fine. Just remember to put, the ooc so we know that you are speaking out of character.

"Dante Cottrell, pleasure to make your aquaintance." He said as the guy left a drawing on Leilana's desk and turned and walked back. "Guy leaving you comic book drawings, people gazing deathbeams at me... Interesting school you have here.... neither of them is like... your guy or anything are they?" Dante asked a bit apprehensively. He didn't want to make himself an enemy on the first day for flirting with someone's girlfriend.
He followed her to their next class, chatting amiably with her, meeting some of her friends. "Sure are a lot of white folks around here..." He chuckled. "Brooklyn? You never been to NYC? That's a stupid question... sorry, I'm just so used to New York being the center of everything. Yeah Brooklyn's great. I miss it already. It's home for me, always will be. The air isn't as clean as here, it's more dirty, the people are ruder, but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Block parties and b-boys, the hustle and bustle of the big city." He smiled at the fond memories.

Joshua glanced at Leilana and the new guy as they entered their new class.

"B-boys? Block parties? Wow it does sound rather exciting." she said. "And don't worry I'm not attatched, and even if I was no one controls me." she smiled looking down at her shoes sheepishly. As she spoke she noted Joshua being his usual self..."Ignore him please." though she did smirk a little. Why were guys so...territorial or whatever the case could be.

Shrugging she lead Dante to their next class taking a seat in the back, something she always did. "So do you have...I mean are you attatched? Or leave someone behind?"

He smiled slightly, glad to see she had as much interest in his relationship status as he had in hers. "Yeah I left someone behind, we hadn't been going out for very long though, so it wasn't too heavy a loss. In fact." He looked around like she would pop up as soon as he said it, "she was a bit crazy so there was a little blessing in disguise leaving Brooklyn as I did." He chuckled. "So about this carnival or tour of the town you had in mind, would you like me to pick you up at your house or do you want to meet somewhere?" He asked somewhat shyly, he was trying to be a new Dante and this start in a brand new town provided him with an excellent opportunity to not be the same bumbling idiot he usually was around girls.

Joshua Richens

Suddenly Joshua entered the English class with his backpack hanging from one shoulder. He strolled towards Leilana desk. "Hello Leilana," Joshua greeted sitting next to her as he took out his notebook from his bag. "Just wanted to tell you Leilana, I love this subject."

She had been content to just chat with Dante for the next subject. At his question she had been about to answer him, but hardly rude in nature she addressed Joshua. "Hello." Turning an apologetic smile to Dante she remained polite for the time being.

"Yes this is a lovely subject." But she really didn't see how anyone who lived in the US could possibly fail it. "So um...what are you up to Joshua?"

He looked with puzzlement at the kid as he sat down next to them. This guy must have it bad for her. Maybe he should just let this one go. Nahhhh he thought smiling evilly. He got Leilana's attention again. "Sorry to interrupt, I like English too.. but ummm about that question I asked you earlier? I can meet you anywhere you'd like."

Joshua Richens

"Oh so you like the subject too new guy!" exclaimed Joshua abruptly. "I guess we all have something in common eh?"

Alexia Peterson

Alexia Peterson was one of the more popular girls around the school and her family had big money but she wasn't like most of her friends. She was sweet to everyone she met and had very few enemies. Most of the people in the school were friends and equally, most of the guys wanted to be with her but she preferred to stay single. It was just less complicated that way. Alexia was born and raised in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and her little southern accent that worked charms for her. She was tiny girl but in the south, tiny girls mean BIG problems. She had a slightly problem with "shooting" off at the mouth and telling people what was on her mind way too often. Besides that, she was rather easy to get along with and loved meeting new people. If only she could get to class on time.

Alexia:
Height: 5'5
Weight: 110 pounds
Body: Curvy and petite
Hair: Dark chocolate brown with natural strawberry blonde highlights
Eyes: Light green.

IC:
Alexia came walking into Mrs. Sandersons classroom around 10-15 minutes late and quietly snuck to the back of the while her back was facing the classroom. She walked down a row of chairs and took a seat behind the new kid Dante and Leilana. She crossed her legs under the desk and stared intently at the board as if she had been there since the classroom started. A small smile crossed her face as she realized that Mrs. Sanderson had not yet caught on and she doubted that she would. Alexia looked at Leilana then smiled a little before turning her eyes to Dante. She leaned across the desk and put her hands on the back of Dantes chair. " Hey there. I'm Alexia. You're new ain't cha?" Her southern accent dripped off her words as she smiled sweetly to Dante.

((Lemme if I fudged up more. I didnt exactly see the second page of posting........My bad...........Im blonde.......))

ooc: Ah I see you edited, good looking.

Lana smiled seeming a bit nervous by the sudden attention. "Well you can meet me here at school. At 7, we can walk to the carnival it isn't far from here. And I like fresh air so no cars." With that out of the way she went to address Joshua.. "As for you little mister...what do you want?" she chuckled at his enthusiasm. At least he didn't give up but right now currently she wished to be able to attend class in piece... oh well.

Joshua Richens

"Well ms. little shy girl," chuckled Joshua. "I would just like to get to know you better and also your new boyfriend I believe sitting next to you," Joshua said awkwardly. "However let us meet up some other time because I got to attend an appointment in the school's office right now." JOshua began placing his notebook and utensils back into his bag. "I guess we can meet up after school or maybe tomorrow if it is okay with you both. Okay? Take care, bye." He got up off his seat and waved a goodbye. Joshua told Mrs. Sanderson that he needed to miss class today for an office appointment. He departed the classroom with a stylish walk.

OOC: By the way Joshua is a guy

Dante saw the girl walk in and sneak a syllabus off the desk and practically tip toe to a seat behind him. Again he put another mark in the column for something in the water. This girl was as gorgeous as the other two he'd seen. He smiled up at her as she walked back to her seat and went back to pounding a rythmn on his desk with his pen as Leilana went back to talking to that strange Joshua girl. He smiled slightly as he felt a pair of hands touch his back as the late-comer leaned forward and introduced herself. "Yeah, I just got into town a couple days ago. I'm Dante." He shifted around so he could get a good look at her, the thick southern drawl drawing a smile to her face. "I was about to ask about your odd accent, but I just realized it'd be pretty New Yorkcentric of me, I'm probably the weird sounding one." He said in a NY accent.

Alexia laughed quietly and smiled, " My accent aint odd. Now yours on the other hand.......Nice to meet you Dante. Don't be makin fun of my accent now. You're the one who don't fit in around here with your crazy accent." She grinned then shook her head and glanced up at Mrs. Sanderson just in time to see Mrs. Sanderson shoot her a glare. " Just explainin' to the new kid where stuff is round here. You know, like the liquor store, the strip club and such. Nothing major. Naw, just kidding Mrs. Sanderson. He needed to know where the library is." Alexia looked to Dante and smiled then spoke louder then needed, " Down on Winston it is. Right by the creek. Makes for lovely viewing." She nodded to Mrs. Sanderson then looked to Dante when she turned her back to the class again. " Lovely viewing? Thank God I can think on my feet. I wonder where the library is. I hope its on Winston. I think it is." She laughed slightly.

Dante chuckled slightly as the girl tried to cover her tracks. He sighed. "I hate being here." he whispered to her. "I didn't used to go to class very often, but I promised my dad I'd do better here. Need to make him look good I guess." He continued drumming out a rythmn as he chatted the girl up. "So what's there to do around here? Leilana here offered to take me to a carnival tonight around seven. Fancy joining us? Make a group event out of the whole thing?" He shot another look at Joshua who was still jawing at Leilana. He lowered his voice even more. "What's the deal with that guy? Red eyes? Seriously? And he was being somewhat hostile to me before, he got something against colored people?"

Alexia thought some and smiled a little, " The carnival sounds great to me. It'll be a lot of fun." She laughed slightly when he made mention of Joshua not liking colored people. "Come on now, this may be a small town but we aren't back wood hillbillies. My daddy aint my brother. " She grinned then shook her head slightly and leaned in closer to Dante. "Joshua has been trying to get with Leilana since.......Well forever but he never has the courage to talk to her. I'm guessing that since you were talking with her, he decided to go for the kill. He will end up fumbling over his words and moving a few rows over. I don't think he's even suppose to be in this class." She laughed slightly then smiled at Dante. This new kid might be fun to have around. "Trust me, no one wants to be here except those kids." She pointed to the couple of kids in the front of the class who were listening intently to Mrs. Sanderson.

"Yeah yeah I have lot of big city stereotypes I need to work through I think. I'm from the land of drivebys and crack dealers and now I'm in the land of cowtipping and line dancing." He chuckled. "I'm just playing." He smiled at her and looked back at Leilana. Damn he was lucky meeting two ladies like this on his first day. He leaned over and told Leilana that he had invited Alexia to come with them to the carnival. "Glad you decided to come. My dad wanted me to make some good friends while I was here, glad to see you peeps are making it easy on me." He winked at her.

"Cowtipping and line dancing? Once again, refer to the front row of the classroom." She laughed slightly then glanced over at Leilana and smiled politely at her. Amazingly enough, she hadn't really ever gotten to know Leilana so this would be a good opportunity. " Most people here in town are friendly enough then you have the people who are redneck to every sense of the word. Those are the people that you may run into problems with. They ain't no big thang though." She smiled and shrugged slightly as the class bell rang then she looked at Dante. "I'm leaving after this class, you're more than welcome to skip with me if you'd like."

"Glad to know I won't be spending all my time running away from men in white hooded masks..." He said, laughing as the bell rang. "Lawdy Lawdy Lawdy I swars da troubles Is gits myself intos!" He smiled at her. He laughed at her as she asked if he wanted to skip next period with her. "You vile temptress! I promised my dad I'd try to keep my attendance record up this year... then again. Maybe I'm just a new kid who got lost." He checked his schedule seeing he had biology next. He knew he wasn't in that class with Leilana and it would be a lot more interesting to go with Alexia. He turned to Leilana and smiled at her. "Have a good rest of the day and I'll see you around 7 tonight back here alright? Thanks for helping a new kid not feel so lost!" He waved to her and ran to catch up with Alexia falling into step behind her. "So what's the plan then?"

Alexia glanced back at Dante and smiled slightly, " Well first I had planned to go and play in some flowers then chase some greased pigs around. By golly gosh, after that we could go and pick some strawberries! Doesn't that sound like a dandy time." She laughed some and walked out to her Lexus IS300 then looked at him, " I was just gunna go home and watch some movies. Order a pizza. Probably won't do my homework but then again I might........." She climbed in the drivers seat then waited for him to jump into the car.

"Hey come on! I apologized for the country bumpkin thing already." He looked at her and narrowed his eyes slightly. "I'm not getting into a car, no matter how sweet it may be, if you're going to be driving me somewhere where homework will be done." He laughed at that and climbed into the passanger seat. "This is a pretty sweet car. Not cheap either. My dad used to own one of these, before I was allowed to drive. He's traded up for a Mercedes now, but he used to love this thing. So how about instead of going home you show me around town?" He asked smiling at her.

Alexia smiled and looked at him then glanced around her car as she started it. "This car is ok. I'm suppose to be getting a new car though. Theres something wrong with this one." She shrugged slightly then pulled out of the parking lot for the school. " So you want me to show you around this little ol' town. This shouldn't take long." She laughed slightly and headed down Main Street. " This is where most of the parades are. The carnival will probably spill into Main Street tonight. " She turned down Jefferson Street and pointed to the police station that looked like it could hold 5 cells, maybe. " Thats the jail there. Probably bigger than what you're use to. It's ok to be frightened by our tactical police squad. Ah there they are now" She grinned and pointed to the 7 or so squad cars that were parked at the local doughnut shop.

Dante laughed as she showed off the town. "You have a lot of hometown pride. Seems like you're just bursting at the seams with it." He sighed as he loked out the window. "You guys do have nice air, friendly people and all that, but I really am just homesick. I miss the sound of car horns.. the smell of bad Chinese food garbage.." He smiled at the ridiculiousness of it. "I sure hope everything works out here in any case since I had no choice. My dad got a good job offer and next thing I know I've gone from DJing at a block party to.. hell I don't even know what there is to do out here." He smiled at her and then ducked as she drove by the police station. "Jesus christ are you crazy!? Those cops see me and I'm as good as dead!" He joked. "They'll string me up in the middle of town for all the good folk to see!"

Leilana sighed watching Dante and Alexia leave. She had hoped they would get to talk more but that was the case with school. Hellos and goodbyes.

Sauntering off to the rest of her classes the day strolled by rather slow. A few annoying moments by the class idiots and even more so by the amount of homework piled on for the beginning of the damn semester. Teachers...

It was now time to head home, not much for cars or more cause her folks didn't want to get her one, Leilana had to walk home. Those with cars in school, drove by honking their horns like crazy.

Leilana didn't bother with a smile or even a glance in their direction as she hurried home. "Mah...pah! I'm home!" she called out. There wasn't any sign of them as she went to her room. Dropping her bag she shifted around in her closet to look for something decent to wear at the carnival. Alexia was going to go too, and she had a good idea that Dante would be too busy oogling her to even notice anything Lana had on...so she stuck with what was most comfortable and tossed it on her bed.

That was when she heard a noise in the back room. Going to investigate she opened the door to find her father rutting a rather young girl from her school. She didn't know the girl personally but she'd seen her on a few occassions. With a sigh she hurriedly closed the door. Going to the kitchen she began making dinner. Her mah would return soon and be hungry and after her father's rutting session he would too.

No doubt they'd be arguing again tonight. It was a good thing she asked Dante to the carnival she really hated being around when they were at odds.
