Just wondering who uses what as far as their internet browser. I switched to Firefox and I am amazed thus far. It is an open source code operation that ensures us protection from spyware and adware....plus since it is a stand alone program...no bugs can get into your system!

firefox

I couldn't imagine the internet without firefox, after using it for some time now. If you use IE, change to firefox NOW!
You aren't invulnerable when it comes to virii or spyware, but the huge holes in the IE coding arent in firefox - so it lessens the chances ;)

I use Netscape, but then I'm old fashioned and have been using netscape since the first data packets were carried by dinosaur. I have firefox installed and its ok. My own personal feeling is if you use any microsoft product, then you get what you deserve in terms of viruses, trojans, adware/spyware...

FIREFOX

I use Firefox.

It does take a little getting used to but it is much better then IE. Plus it is much faster.

What I mean by it takes a little getting used to is you will need to go into tools / options and change your settings .

firefox, hands down. i've used it since version .7 and fell in love with it immediately. only downfall is that it doesn't support the microsoft website, so i have to revert to IE for updates, KB searching, etc.

it's definitely the superior browser and it's slowly & steadily taking away IE's market share. there are a couple of things to keep in mind though. FF isn't totally hassle free... it has security issues just like IE does. they're just not as big a deal because it's a small share of the market and the people who write malicious code target IE because it's the predominant product. FF also still has some java script issues and there are some sites that aren't FF-friendly (other than microsoft.com) mostly because webmasters don't always check their designs to see if they work properly.

For the past month or so, I've been lanning with some people who would best be called "computer nerds". Since then I've gotten Firefox, I love it. It just works...better...and almost no popups.

BTW if anyone here uses Kazaa, I suggest the program Diet Kazaa...its a hack that removes all the ad and spy ware....even these "computer nerds" diddnt know about it, which is odd. But anyhow I love download.com.

Funny...I work at a call centre where americans call in, and we hate firefox.

Does anyone here use Checkfree!!??

Anyone find a better email program and outlook or outlook express ?

mozilla (makers of firefox) have a mail client that just came out in version 1.0 called thunderbird. i've been using it for over a year and have been very happy with it. there's no calendar, task manager, etc. built into it like outlook though. it's more like outlook express.

give it a try... www.mozilla.org

Why do you hate it?
I work ISP tech support and we are encouraging our customers to download FireFox, even going so far as including it on our software CD's.

Because as I said...I hate it with my job. It just creates problems for us. I myself at home use IE. I'm Canada, so we don't hear of the new things normally, because it's all the same to me. As long as my net works, I don't care.

My brother told me about Firefox, and I absolutely love it. I still have IE on my computer, but never use it. Firefox runs so much faster then IE, and I don't have to install a pop up blocker since it has one. Firefox is the best thing around right now.

Hmmmm...curious. I've been reading about it and currently I'm using Safari without any issues. Ever since Microsoft refused any supoort to Mac Internet Explorer, I dumped them ASAP.

Has anyone compared Safari to the new Firefox??

Opera 7.60

I seem to change browsers everytime there is a new version or a special need that one browser can do better than another. For editing and uploading, I normally use Netscape, but never for browsing because it is a bit slow. For daily use, I have been oscillating between Opera and Firefox. I was using Firefox until the release version that had/has issues with unix so I've switched back to Opera development version 7.60. I find it a bit cleaner and style sheets seem to work much better. The major features that I really like with opera that Firefox/Mozilla/Netscape DON'T have, AFAIK, are:
  1. Easily, installable Language packs. ( Browser language not to be confused with browsing language preference).
• The option to continue your previous session. If you had 10 tabs open before closing or shuting down your computer, you will have the same when you restart. It saves me a lot of time and helps me remember where I was. An age thing, maybe :)
Actually, all of the browsers mentioned in this thread are far superior to MSIExplorer. IMHO.

BTW, the 7.60 verson of Opera may not be available for windows yet. I don't use windows and haven't checked but you won't see a lot of difference between it and the current 7.54 release version. I've only really noticed the CSS stuff. I would recommend that you upgrade when 7.60 becomes available the same as you would with other software of this type such as Gaim, Gimp, Skype, Limewire, etc.

Firefox here. I don't see myself going back to IE anytime soon.

IE always gives me an error everytime I close out of it.

Has to be firefox....it's stand alone and really helps stop the spyware. Also, it works a lot faster than IE does. I've used Ie a lot in the past but when I tried Firefox...I never went back!!

Opera. From what I hear it has just about the same features as Firefox, but you can also save sessions, specific sets of brosing windows. I don't know if you can do that with Firefox.

Anything but ie. I use Opera 7.23 have latest version just haven`t bothered to switch yet.
Great for older computers.
For mail I use Pegasus, it`s free doesn`t always get great reviews but I haven`t had any problems with it.
If there is a replacement program for any microsoft stuff I use it. No bloatware, less prone to attack and generally written better.

I've been using Firefox since it was called 'Phoenix'. It's my primary browser. I still use IE for sites that require it or to make sure that a web page I've done displays properly. I still use Opera on rare occasions, but those are becoming more of testings web pages than browsing.

For email, I use Thunderbird. For browsing news groups, I use Outlook Express.

Mozilla, Opera, and under protest IE.

For the most part Mozilla fits the bill, I was looking at Firefox but a friend said plain Jane Mozzila worked well for her so I tried it and liked it.

Thunderbird as an email client is good in the way it feels like it slowly learns your likes and dislikes and it has cut down on the spam, getting through my filters big time.

As other have said I mostly use Opera to check html works with different browsers rather than using it to browse online.

IE only for the sites that don't appear to suport Mozilla / Netscape browsing.

I have been using firefox w/ Tabbrowser extensions installed and it has worked fine. However, the last update I downloaded messed up some cosmetic issues. I need to figure out how to uninstall the update.
