Okay, so here's the thing- thanks to Amendment One (Thank you, all you selfish, short-sighted, dick up your ass idiots) they are going to FIRE half of the untenured staff of the Florida schools (at least in my area they are).

Thery are also letting go police officers, firefighters and stations, ambulance drivers and emergency response teams of all types- because they can no longer afford to pay them.

You're going to see a LOT of Florida teachers fired for stupid reasons in the next few months.

The guy is a substitute teacher. Usually they do shit in terms of teaching. Theyre baby-sitters.
My guess is this guy did the magic tricks and let the kiddies play with their Game Boys etc., and someone went home and told momma.

He was a sub--no tenure--and re-read the article. The school doesn't need to justify firing him. So the teacher's union ain't so all powerful Roxy, alas for this guy who is now jobless for no apparently good reason.

Which isn't to say you're wrong--it probably was BS--that is, that, as said, they hadn't any reason and made one up on the fly. But that in itself gets them a black mark--IF the teacher himself is telling the truth and this is what they said to him. I mean, who in their right mind thinks, "What can I fire this guy for? Oh, I've got it...Wizardry!"

Substitutes have no access to the teachers union because they are not salaried employees. My husband subbed for a while before he got his first teaching job.

Sadly although he is an incredible teacher he is working in the computer field at the moment and making a hell of a lot more money.

I have yet to meet an administrator that is not a complete idiot.

And people wonder why American kids are behind other countries!
