Finding BDSM people

This is not an easy thing for me to do, since I'm not that confident a person. But I'm trying to be more confident, and this board may help me out somewhat.

So here's my question. As a very inexperienced man, how do I go about finding people that are into light bondage (to start somewhere) in London, England? Is anyone from these boards in London, can you help me out here?

I'm not massively into it, but I know from having sex that I like to play with the power relationship. I like being in control, most of my fantasties revolve around me being in control of a tied up woman, but I've also enjoyed being tied up myself.

So, any helpful pointers?

I've exchanged e-mails with people from all over the world on alt and bondage.com. You might consider putting a profile on either of those two sites. And I'm sure there's local clubs that have munches and parties in your area. It's a great way to get to know people and find out more about the lifestyle. Put google or Yahoo to work for you and see what kind of results you get.

meeting bdsm folks in real life is, sadly, even harder than meeting regular people! my own personal stragedy is to get to know a guy as a friend. if he's into the bdsm lifestyle, then perhaps we go further with a relationship. if not, oh well! but getting to know the guy on a level that doesn't hinge on sexual contact is (i've found) a good way to gain friends and lovers!

Another thought that sprang to mind was to hang out at places like Home Depot (or any English hardware store equivelent) and tack stores. Keep an eye out for subbies in disguise carrying lengths of chain and studying the selection of heavy duty eye bolts or ladies who look like they've never been near a horse but have a fascination with crops and whips, lol.

well, when i worked at fireworks supermarket, we'd always get a paper first thing in the morning and go through the horoscopes, the crossword, and the personals. i remember seeing ads placed by couples seeking a sub or dom, by subs seeking a dom/me, and by dom/mes seeking a sub - so it was all there. in some cases, there were even specific kinks listed, like golden showers. often, the details of the would-be relationship were spelled out like "casual relationship involving sexual play only" or, "must meet for drinks beforehand for an interview" and things like that. it was all very clear, and while it's true that there were only a few scattered in with the "regular" ads, they were, at least, not excluded.
