Mother Earth will swallow you

Lay your body down.

The American Revolutionary War (April 19, 1775 – September 3, 1783), also known as the Revolutionary War or American War of Independence, was the military conflict of the American Revolution in which American Patriot forces under George Washington's command defeated the British, establishing and securing the independence of the United States. Fighting began on April 19, 1775 at the Battles of Lexington and Concord. The war was formalized and intensified following passage of the Lee Resolution, which asserted that the Thirteen Colonies were "free and independent states", by the Second Continental Congress in Philadelphia on July 2, 1776 and the unanimous ratification of the Declaration of Independence two days later, on July 4, 1776.

Too many forget that national holidays are not about sales, boating and barbeques.

Except for the fact that war and the military in the United Stated are honored and celebrated ad nauseam.

I would say that “Independence Day” is really about the IDEAS / IDEALS of freedom and democracy.

I celebrate those ^ IDEAS / IDEALS, and ALL THE PEOPLE who have sacrificed to advance them.

Of course, “ALL THE PEOPLE” includes those who have served in the military.

It ain't all about wars. As a matter of fact, some wars initiated by the USA have set the cause of democracy and freedom backwards. Those wars were ultimately not in defense of freedom.

Promoting freedom has much more to do with setting a high standard for protecting human rights right here at home, and only using war as a last resort for protecting those rights.

America was founded by slave-owners who told you that All Men Are Created Equal.
