How is cruising along in the left lane blocking (read: pissing off) a mile long string of cars behind you safe? It's been awhile since my last driving test but I swear that yielding was already the law (in FL anyway).

Yeah exactly. How is forcing someone to merge right to pass a slower driver safer? How is causing someone to tailgate you safer? They are also calling this the Road Rage Reward bill, pfftth what a joke.

I see 4 main causes of road rage:

a) slow drivers in the left lane

b) someone cutting you off

c) someone tailgating you

d) someone blowing by you on the right


This bill addresses 3 of those 4.

And last I checked, the rule of the road is "drive on the right, pass on the left". I'm glad a state is finally taking the initiative to enforce that because in the past anyone driving the speed limit can just sit in the left lane blocking traffic all they want.

YUP been a law here in fl for yrs thank god otherwise I would have points out the wazoo and so would hubby

It's a good law, however there are so many left exits in this area, it's sometimes difficult. I think the road designs are pretty flawed in some areas, lots of bottlenecking turning into left exits. It's back asswards.
