Night watch was one of the most boring things to do while in the army.Standing up on a lookout he scanned the horizon again for the nth time today.
He joined the army because he thought that there would be adventure. Alas,they have commisioned him to guard this outpost in the middle of nowhere.
Join the army they said , see the world they said.
Well if he could he could tell them to shove the army where the sun doesn't shine, but it was not any good.
He stood leaning on the rails of the lookout and wished he had some adventure....

Dont'get me wrong though. I've just had this premonition that I had read something like this in the Dragonlance Chronicles by TSR. And I'm A big fan of Dragonlance !

OOC; as good of a story as that was (I too am a big dragonlance fan, I owne every novel and have read the originals hundreds of times) No. I am not recapping Berem.

Berem had the green jemstone implanted in his chest by Takhisis, after killing his own sister. He also had complete recolection of every day since the cataclism, including his runin with the ruins of Neraka, those 300 or so years ago.

This guy has no memory dating more than a month ago. Yet he can see, touch, and possess the misterious, legendary elemental crystals of the world. I'd think it was more like FFmq.

OOC: Yay! I'm not the only dragonlance fanatic

IC: Shana stood on the cliff that overlooked her house. She now lived with a kind old lady who seemed to see things others could not. She often told Shana that she had a special inner light, whatever that meant she wasn't sure. Now as she gazed out over the cliff at the place she had come to call home she said goodbye. She could not stay here and endanger her foster mother. Lately some men had been looking for her and if it wasn't for their next door neighbors they could have been seriously hurt. Now the men searched for her and that is why she must leave. With one last glance back at her home she turned and began walking, walking towards the future and hopfully towards the truth.

the angry cries of the villagers rang through the air. Shortly after returning from the cave, strange monsters began to attack the village. Many people were killed, the rest convinced it was Kayla's doing.

Kayla saw that he was the cause of the direst in the small village, so he volunteered to leave, much to the anguish of Maggie. "I'm sorry, but I must go." he said, to try and comfort her. "Not only am I causing trouble here, but I must go out into the world to find more of these crystals." He put his hand to his chest, where the mysterious crystal seemed to melt into his skin. Indeed, under his shirt, an icy blue scar appeared shortly after.

"THan you must let me go with you! I can help you!" cried maggie.

"No, it is much to dangerous. I love you too much to drag you into it." Maggie slowly agreed to stay behing and guard the village. She must have been really upset with Kayla, because she didn't show up to see him off the next morning.

and so he left, the sounds of angry villagers behind him.

He walked for about an hour when he heard a shout. Stopping and looking back, he saw Maggie, running to him. "Maggie, I told you to stay there!"

"I know, but I had to see you off. Here, I want you to have this." She handed him a pink ribbon. "It's.....I want you to have it, and allways remember me with it." she said. She tied the ribbon across his forhead, gave him a kiss, and fled before he could utter a word. With no choice, he continued on.....

OOC; you've got to read into the posts a little more. Kayla was the name given to him by Maggie, because he couldn't remember his own. Only the members of this small village know of it, and only knew of him for a mere month now.

IC; Kayla stepped through the gates of the large city. He looked around, hoping he'd been here before and it'l bring something back, but no such luck. He did seem to know his way around, much moreso than a person who'd never seen a city before (as it was, he had no memories of ever being in a city). However, he knew that at some point in his life he had been in a city, so the towering stone buildings and extremely busy streets were nowhere neer intimidating.

Most of his money was spent on low quality food, cloths, and a few potions he felt he'd need. (he wpuld have broke for an Ether, but at 1000 gil, it was a few hundred too much.

Near nightfall, he decided to check into an Inn. A chepo place near the edge of the city, it only charged 10 gil a night. The last of his money. Those monsters near the village, no matter how many there were, were low level and yielded very little gil each.

In the morning, he was woken up by the sound of pounding. Someone was posting a help wanted sign. Not many people bothered to read it, probably because the first words were "Adventurers Needed", and noone in this part of town was an adventurer.

The sign said that adventurers were needed to clear a forest of monsters. A swarm of imps were flooding into a shop-keepers farm, ruining the supply of herbs necesary for his goods (potions, Phoenix downs, and such) and someone was needed to clear them out. The pay offering was lowsy, but Kayla was desprit.

Kayla went to the shop. It was conviently located next to a weapons and armor shop, though he had no money for such conviniences. "Hello" said the shopkeeper. "Feel free to look around, though I can't gaurentee having much. Some imps are ruining my crop"

"THat's why I'm hear, to help rid these imps."

"Oh, your an adventurer? you don't look like much of one" he said, looking kayla up and down. Indeed, Kayla was wearing raggity clothing, and absolutely no armor. His weapon was a poorly concieled knife. "But if you say you can get rid of those imps, than by all means." the shopkeeper showd Kayla to the back door, and waved him on.

Geri woke with a jab in her chest , opening her eyes she saw her little sister Kesa poking her . "Hello little snotrag" Geri grumbled happily and pulled her into a hug. Her little sister of 5 smiled happily and didn't say hello back. Instead she stood serious and looked out the window that was at the head of the bed.
"some man is here to see you . he says its important . He made mommy cry. " Kesa lowered her head and looked up at Geri from under her blonde hair . "I don't like him , he scared me . "
"tell mamma I'll be down in a few moments , I wish to get dressed ." Geri smiled happily to her sister and then pulled her brown blanket off her . Setting her feet on the floor she felt a cold relief of her dream still lingering in her head . waving goodbye to her sister, she closed the door after her and Geri yawned .Pulling her white nightgown over her head she looked around for her dragon shirt . Finding it she pulled it over her head and noticed it was tight around her chest . Pulling on a pair of blue jeans she yawned again as she pulled her sneakers on . Opening her bedroom door she heard a voice of a male talking to her mother .
"we need to take her now , "
"don't take her !"She heard her mamma cry. "I don't want her hurt ."Geri hurried down the stairs and saw a man with brown beard lingering in the hallway.
"Mamma whats wrong ? " Geri looked at her mom's red eyes and saw she had been crying .
"This man want s to take you away. "
"Listin lady, you knew about this a long time, since she was born , so don't make such a big deal. " The man said staring at Geri from the corner of his eye.
Geri was confused , she knew nothing of this man and didn't plan on going anywhere with him .
"She's my daughter! Not a warrior!"Her mom shouted . Looking at Geri after the man had a stern talking to her mother she said " when you were little we knew you had something special , and know you have to go with this man and become a warrior , to find something . "
The man came up to her and grabbed her arm . "Come we must go now . "
"NO!" Geri cried and ran out the front door and ran, ran till she had no more breath in her . she stopped in the forest that was 23 miles from her home . Out of breath and cold she cried .

As he said this to him self Ther is A minor Trimbel in the mountin And th Area of the mountian i front of Drake Craks Just enugh to show its hollow.

Drake Puts A Black onix colord Braclet on his left wrist As the Braclet Stabs in to his nervs he fills A sharp pain "Ahrgg Damn it that stings!"
Soon It serpasses ANd with A thought The Braclet Forms A skin tight Black Armor razer sharp gontlet Around his left arm. It a spick forms at the el bow Of his arm It givs him a Razar sharp Talon . He uses the talon to rip at the crak in the moutian Creating an etrance in to the mountian HE traves deep in too the hollow mountain Tel He comes to what apeers to be a Shrine of some sort. In the senter of this srine sits A red shimering crystal Drake walks to the crystal And gose to pick it Up It inbeds its self into his cestbruning at first Sinking deeper in to him. and without a thought His Black talon reverts back to A Braclet but with One change it now has A dark peroul Flame On it. He stumbels deeper through the mountian tel he comes out the other side . He now stears at the dreidian foorest

OOC; Ravy, you've got to learn to spell a little better.

IC; "And... that should be the last of them!" Kayla sunk his knife into the neck of an imp. The imp dissapeared, and he collected the gil left behind. This had definetly been a fruitful adventure. Not only had he gained much experience, but the imps were loaded with potions and Eye-drops.

As he turned to head back, he heard a sound behind him. Looking back revieled a Red-Imp, Obviously very angry. "Y-You kill f-f-friends. Now i K-kill Y-You!" and he attacked.

the Red-imp was much stronger than the lowly imps. Kayla attacked many many times to no avail. He had pretty much exausted his supply of potions when finally the red-imp fell, dissapeared, and left behind about 500 gil. Kayla also felt much stronger himself after the battle. Must have gone up a level. But, what's done is done, so he headed back once more.

"Oh, thank you, Thank you. You have no idea how much trouble that will save me!" said an appreciative shopkeeper.

"I'm sorry to say, but I used up most of the potions I collected off of those imps."

"Oh, that's more than allright. I can make more. Here is your reward!" the shopkeeper took out a High-potion and 3 Ethers. He then handed them over.

"Are you sure? Ethers can get pretty expensive! even with the money I made off of those imps. I still can't afford an Ether.!"

"Oh, pish posh. It's nothing compared to what you've done for me. And please, as a token of my appreciation, why don't you stay here with me tonight!" Money, Experience, Ethers, and a free room. Kayla sure hoped that all of his adventures turned out this good-fortunate.

Shana reached a larged gate that led to a city. Weary and tired from fighting she walked through. Looking at the tall buildings she felt intimidated and unsure. Biting her lip she headed for the closest inn. She had little money, enough for a night at the inn and a few supplies. Entering the bar part of the inn she allowed herself to order a drink. Siting in the back keeping her hood over her head she observed the people in the bar.

OOC; Oh, comeon Ravy. Whatsa matter. you can't come up with anything original? I mean Jeez, out of the thousands of monsters found in the final fantasy games, you have to pick the same one at the same level that I just fought. Show a little creativity man!

IC; It was late at night, well past midnight. Kayla was still wide awake. He blamed it on the ache in his chest, but he was just diluding himself. Actually, he was worried. Worried about his unknown past and how it affected the unpredictable future. When the thoughts of the crystal joined the clutter, he lost patience and stepped outside for some fresh air.

He walked aimlessly for a while, only keeping a half a mind on where he went so he could get back when he noticed the Inn that he first crashed at. The beer wasn't too bad there, so he decided to down a few.

Despite the past midnight hour, the inn's bar was pretty crowded. And noisy. Moreso than you would guess from the cold, quiet street. There was laughter, banter, a piano player in the corner and a bright fire. Kayla walked up to the bar and ordered a drink.

"It'll be a minute. I've got to bring in another barrel" the bartender said.

"Well, hurry it up, I need another drink!" said a woman at the bar. Kayla payed here little heed. While waiting, he went and checked out the fire place.

'nothing unusual here' he said to himself, not expecting to find anything anyway. The bartended by now was carrying in another barrel of beer (he was a big guy) and setting up the tap. So Kayla sat down and waited.

the bartender poored him a drink. The woman pestered him about her's though.

"Listen lady, I only do so many drinks on trust. When you can fork over the gil, Then I'll poor you some more!"

"No You listen. I'm good for it. I may not have the funds at the moment, but mind you I'll get them, first thing in the morning if needbe, and youd be the first to get paid!"

"Sorry lady. you pay you drink. You don't pay, you don't drink. it's as simple as that!"

Kayla threw 10 gil on the bar infront of the bartender. "I'll pay for her drink" he said coldly. He just wanted to shut them up. he was having a stressfull enough night as it was.

"Hey, thanks alot. Say, what's your name? I'm Shana"

"people call me Kayla" he said coldly, not interested in a conversation.

"People....call you kayla? what's wrong? don't have a name of your own?"

Kayla shrugged. "I don't remember it."

"Well I'm....I'm.... I-I'm......"

"You are quite drunk" he said. "and apparently broke too"

"Wha? me? broke? ....well.... have you seen those monsters out there? their so week that you can't even afford a potion. I had to fight for hours just to stay at this place!"

"Yah, that's true. I got lucky. I just fought a Red-imp outside the item shop, and the guy's letting me crash at his place"

"Yes. You are very...... you are....... who are you again?"

"Kayla. Hey, bartender. What room is she staying in?"

"3"

"Ok, comeon. you need sleep. can't have you vomiting over my cheep rags, now can we?" Shana had passed out on the bar. Kayla lifted her up (with difficulty. her armor was heavy underneth the cloak) and dragged her to her room, where he roughly dropped her on the bed. THen, feeling distracted enough, he made his way back to the item shop to finish his own sleep.

Geri had been so tired and out of breath that she was geting an asthma attack. Taking out her lung sucker she took a deep drag. Looking around her she heard a growl, turning around she was face to face with a Mook... (sorry, i made him up, ) screaming she jumped up and took a poose . Then screaming with rage she jumped up ikn the air and kicked the wind out of him . The mook took a step back and then pounced jabbing Geri in the stomach with a stick. Geri got the wind knocked out of her . Geri knew nothing about levels but she could tell this one was stronger then she . Kicking the mook with hardness she retreated her foot and saw green muck all over her sneaker . "ewww" she said kicking her sneaker off. The sneaker hit the mook square in the mouth . more green muck fell from the mooks mouth . Geri guessed it was the big blue one eyed mook's blood. Geri pounced at her attacker and did a double kick . kicking both sides of the mook's head and then planted her feet around he's neck and jumped onto her hands which caused the Mook to land hard on he's back . he died . dissapering into the forest she saw he left two daggers and 34 coins. Picking them up she started walking up toward Dikon Mountion (did i spell it right?).

IC: Shana woke up when the stranger dropped her on her bed. Frowning she sat back up and was determined to talk to this man. Following him she called "Hey Kayla, where you headed?" he stopped and turned to face her an exasperated look on his face "the reason I ask is because a girl like me shouldn't travel alone, I was thinking we could travel together? at least to the next town?"

OOC; Hey, Ravy. Did I fail to mention the concept of "Thousands" of monsters? (key word here thousands). That means, more than (more than) 1000 types of monsters. yet of all the thousands of monsters out there, of all the levels they reach, and all the subspecies they claim, you had to have the same EXACT one I fought! Just making it clear, you copied me. Intentionally or no, you are nothing more than a stupid copycat. (a term not used for anyone over the age of 10)

IC; "you sure recover fast" Kayla said, stepping back into the room.

"so I'm special. will you accept my proposal and travel with me?"

"How do I know your not just in this to take my money?"

"You don't!" shana gave him a smug look. Kayla thought about it for a moment.

"It's late. I'm staying at the item shop. come see me in the morning and we'll decide." and with that he left.

It was Very late at night then. The hint of dawn could almost be seen on the horizon. Without wasting any time, he headed back to the item shop for some rest.

Came morning, the woman had not shown up. Kayla waited for a couple of hours, then gave up. He would have agreed to travel with her. SHe might have known of places to go, and one of them might have brought some of his memory back. As it was, he was lucky to find this city in the first place.

Seing as she was not going to show up, Kayla decided to buy some better equipment and head to the castle. Perhaps the ruler of this city knew something about his past. But that was for later. He stepped into a weaponshop first, adjacent to the item shop. the best material they had was Mythral weapons, which was pretty weak in its own. However, Kayla couldn't even afford a lujury like mythral, so he settled for an bronze sword, and a wooden crossbow. It cost him 250 gil each, wich left him with 300 for armor. Stepping into the armor shop (which had the same material limitations) he purchased a copper helmet and a leather cloak. Completely broke again, He set out.

He was startled when he went back outside again, because lo and behold, she showed up after all. Shana was sitting on the step of the itemshop, patiently waiting, showing no sign of hangover. "So are we going?" she asked

Kayla smiled. "Were going."

Geri had been walking a while and was cold and wet. She shuddered as the ski grey dark around her . Closing her eyes for one second she slammed into something . Looking up and gasping in a breath thinking she had to fight again she saw the eyes of a strong(yet cute)man. Stuttering on words she finally came to and asked :
"who are you ?"
" I am Drake . "
"and I am Geri . Geri Hundo Now if you don't mind me i have to hurry out of here before that nasty man comes and gets me and steals me away. " Saying this she turned her eyes to the dark and cold pathway in front of her.
"Wait!!!" The tall man that said he was Drake said .
"Yes?" Geri turned around and looked up at him .
" did you say Geri HUNDO?"
"Yes i did..." Geri looked at the ground ahead of her thinking this man can't know me?can he? Looking back up she saw he had moved closer and had picked her up in a hug. "LET ME DOWN!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING " she cried loudly hoping someone would hear her

" Do I HAVE to ? " Geri whined . Drake let her down and Geri felt greatful , even though his embrace felt a small tingle through her toes. "thank you" she said when she was down on the ground. Geri looked back at the path that she would be taking . Then turned around and started to walk back. Geri looked up at him and wondered how old he was . Then she asked .
"how old are you ? I'm 25... " Geri awaited his answer and looked back at the ground as they walked
