When I first came accross this sequence of numbers over 3 decades ago, I was intrigued to find out many applications. I hope someone will find this sequence as interesting as I do. It is closely related to the "Golden Number". And has very interesting links to nature and science. The sequence is formed by adding the last two to get the next...

0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, ....

If you are inclined please add the next and then maybe check out this amazing sequence a little more.

dear sweet you

Fibonacci

The idealized ancestry of bees code and alas it took your pm to guide me here, simply as I opened that folder first, ;)

So glad to see you found my geeky little spot ;) I hope you will learn many interesting things about this interesting sequence of numbers, just I am still.

Oh and the next number:

inner geek also

34 and 55 because I am an impatient wench and can not wait for others...such are the shortcomings of this wenchy one who would apply this to flowers, and pineapples...but what else can an earthgoddess be reduced to except a spiral within all?

89 and 144 because I'll match your impatientence as someone with dominant traits, but refuses to be labeled. You might even apply it to music and galaxies...

magickally delicious

May I point out the fact that pinecones also possess this magic? And since you are not accepting labels then dominant with a strong and perverse geeky streak just won't do at all...will it?

I know greedy and wanty and impatient...almost wanted to give the next three.
The sheer and powerful basis for all classic architecture as well as all great art-the Mona Lisa's face is constructed within this parameters.
And yes magic is the term used here-I do believe that science, math, medicine and magic are all blended...and I can almost see your head shaking and hear the chuckle as you negate the magic in this, my dear Sir.

No I am afraid a label of dominant with a strong and perverse geeky streak isn't likely to fly either :)

And if you had given the next three we would already be into the 4 digit numbers. Lets see now... If you were going to provide the "next 3" last time... Then I would have to give the next 5 this time. After looking ahead a bit I think I will need to restrict the possible numbers reported to 1 or 2 per entry, least we crash the Lit servers... And then we would be in deep trouble with the 1000's of Lit addicted souls here. Chambered conch shells and spider webs are also on the list...

Really now, are you sure you don't at least bear a resemblance to a certain type of fellow, one with a little bit of a dominant streak, maybe the rare foray into that dark world of pleasure through controlled behaviors??

I,for one, think you are far to intelligent to accept any label, despite how true aspects might ring in fragments of your personality. Poke. Poke.
And actually I had considered following the sequence in my posting order.

Delphiniums and palm trunks also follow the code.

un-labeled

4181
6765

Really... quite certain.

I suggest that the un-labeled has the freedom to express themselves however they like at the time. While the labeled is more likely to feel constrained by that label. Currently I recognize only two labels; that of "observer" and that of "atypical". And "atypical", while a badge I have worn for many years, is now beginning to feel more like shackles.

I for one am glad I resisted the temptation to temporally post according to the sequence.

Oh and Romanesco and your own hand very possibly.

Idealized Cows and honnybees.even sunflowers.

There is even a "Golden Ratio" (or "Golden Number") formed by dividing the most recent entry in the sequence by the last entry

1 / 1 = 1
2 / 1 = 2
3 / 2 = 1.5
5 / 3 = 1.666666666....
8 / 5 = 1.6
13 / 8 = 1.625
on down to the current entries here of
46368 / 28657 = 1.6180339....
as the numbers grow it approaches:
(sqrt(5) + 1) / 2 = 1.618033988749894... etc

cauliflower, you can see it in Apples and bananas also. Hmmm, thinking of hands again ;)

No I rarely make mistakes of that nature...it was you, flirting with me. I am sure of it.
succulents often have these spirals as well. Not all succulents mind you but a fair number of barrel style cacti do, yes truly.

Are you sure

Could have sworn I was talking about math and science/nature... not flirting. If I had been flirting, I may have been interested in geek sex. :nana:

No, you are sooooo cruising for geek sex, ;) oh wait, maybe I am cruising for geek sex, still drawn to the usage of oral to reinforce math skills... small sighs... But I digress away from classical compositions in art-the Pieta and the simple hens and chicks plant.

Your Maths Purity Test Results
You answered "yes" to 30 of 60 questions, making you 50.0% mathematically pure; that is, you are 50.0% pure in the math domain (you have 50.0% mathematician in you).
Your Weirdness Factor (AKA Uniqueness Factor) is 20%, based on a comparison of your test results with 40293 other submissions for this test.

The average purity for this test is 42.5%.

Yep

Kinda thought you were perving on the geek sex idea... the small sighs concerning oral reinforcement of math skills is a clear indicator. And I can only imagine that no one would EVER fail a math test again with such motivation. :p

I can't keep up with this!! I've been counting a ear of corn and ran out of numbers. Help.. I don't have that many fingers..

I am a geek perv, hangs head trying to look shocked, I am a geek-secretly until now. Well there was that parasite thread, but that seemed well hidden. Now I am outed, I fantasize about long discussions regarding both etymology, forensics and mathematics with a pleasant gentleman companion as he lightly tantalizes my very out most epidermal layer with soft light caresses. And unable to resist have turned to Lit and science/math minded folk to fulfill my geek porn. I am sick, and twisted, and oh so wrong, but as an inverse it just feels so right.

“Nature invariably seeks to accomplish the most with the least — the tightest fit, the shortest path, the least energy expended. This tendency shapes the soap bubbles in your kitchen sink, the cells in a honeycomb, the kernels on an ear of corn, and the cracks in cooling lava. In all these situations, the surfaces, cracks or partitions meet in three-way junctions at angles of 120 degrees” Nature Design, Pat Murphy

hmmm corn and lava, odd combo yet all making sense

Ahhh... back again

:rose: Just embrace your inner geek and all will flow naturally. :nana: New worlds of fun and excitement, new routes of self expression and pleasure. Oh and your ideas concerning new motivational methods in math education sounds very rewarding and appealing. In fact I bet that the methodology could be used in other disciplines as well, like the sciences. I feel the general levels of national math and science understanding would likely increase greatly.

The arrangements of leaves is the same as for seeds and petals. All are placed at 0.618034.. leaves, seeds, or petals, per turn. In terms of degrees this is 0.618034 of 360° which is 222.492...°. However, we tend to see the smaller angle which is (1-0.618034)x360 = 0.381966x360 = 137.50776..°. When you look at properties of Phi, you will see that 1-phi = phi2 = Phi-2

If there are 1.618... leaves per turn it gives flowers or petals the best possible exposure to insects to attract them for pollination or exposure to sunlight. The whole of the plant seems to produce its leaves, flowerhead petals and then seeds based upon the golden number.

be still, my pulsating cardio system

I do so love the precision and methodology of this beautiful spiral, the very most basic imprint of life within all DNA.
Thus the sacred spiral ever expanding within our own physical beings as well as without the universe, as we are no different than the very stars.

I for one love finding that rare person who can embrace that inner geek, find joy in it and a passion for exploration and discovery. Seeing what there is with new eyes and new understanding.

As a long time tracer of spirals of many forms on the outer most epidermal layers of others, the spiral represented here has taken on new significance for me. ;) I now see spiral upon spiral traced in the light of the moment. Opps... almost a purely geek sex moment

Ya know I just realized my tattoo contains a fibonacci spiral, well as a triskellion-wow I am fibonacci'd.

I will have to take some shots to prove my spiral is a fibonacci, if you peek closer you might determine that for yourself.
