Hi there,
Can anybody clarify something for me..
The Oxford Dictionary claims that a Perversion is anything that deviates from the 'norm'. If you apply this to sex...what exactly is a 'norm'? And therefore what exactly is a perversion?
One could understand that at one point in time the missionary position for the purposes of conveiving could have been considered a 'norm' by our Nean'derthal ancestors, but in todays society with such diverse sexual orientations surely the norm has been updated? What do you consider the norm?
I personally think the vast majority of us, if we admit it, have some sort of perversion that arouses us. So perhaps perversion is the new updated norm.
But then if we have a perversion does that makes us a pervert (Collins Dictionary: a Pervert is someone with an unhealthy abnormaility in sex). I don't consider myself abnormal or my interest unhealthy.
And finally, does anyone have an opinion on the difference between a Fetish and a Perversion ?
Thanks for your input
