What odd little habits do you have that new people still find shocking?

For instance, I have a Butterfly knife with a titanium handle and a surgical steel blade that I keep on my desk at home in a pencil cup that I use to open mail.

It's not uncommon while talking to some one to pull it out, flick my wrist to open it, slice open a letter, and close it back.

I don't usually think anything of it, and all my friends are used to it, but every once in a while I do it in front of someone and they get all wide eyed.

Like I'd use it on them.

All around our apartment, Mr. Naudiz and I have toys. We think nothing of them, but when someone new visits, we often get reminded of the SPAWN action figures lurking amidst the silk roses, the little green alien on the fridge with his laser-rifle trained on my computer. On my computer desk, Jason and Freddy Krueger are locked in a passionate embrace. I have a 'grey' alien that's just about the right size to wear Skipper (ala Barbie) clothes, but that didn't stop me from dressing it in BDSM gear made of black electrical tape.

These things just accumulate in our apartment. We don't really make a point to get them, but when something odd crosses our path, we usually end up taking it home. These oddities blend in and we forget about them. Then people come to visit, and we're reminded: oh hey, we're total freaks!

Oh, and Chris Jericho guards our frozen peas.

But really, once you get past all that, we're nice normal people!

my weird thing is compulsive planning

I plan and over plan everything....I have calendars in most rooms of the house with lots of information for each day....for school I print out schedules of daily activities for me, hubby, mom and sitter... then I have post-it notes all over the place to remember to do things and keep them in my truck to help me keep track of ideas I have away from home...

I always get teased because of my notes and caledars...mostly because I even plan shopping days.

I am just eccentric. I have a tendency to be instantly familiar with people and I think it puts them off because it is so non-protocol. I am non-protocol. But then people say they like me. Maybe they are just amused.

The outgoing message on my voice mail tells the caller in a creepy computer voice to leave a message, but it will do them no good because it killed me.

Hm... wierd habits that make people look twice? Um, my toes are really flexible and long (my big toe is as long as my thumb, I swear!) -- as if that isn't enough, I have a habit of picking stuff up with them if I'm being too lazy to just bend over. I also take a lot of time to "arrange" myself if I'm settling down somewhere, and am prone to fidgeting. I don't know if my fidgeting bugs people, but I'm always rolling around and tugging at blankets/coverings when I sit or lie down somewhere, and people like to ask me what I think I'm doing, lol.

This isn't really strange, but a lot of people comment at how fast I type. Really, I just type rapidly, but I make so many mistakes and have to hit delete so many times that it seems like I'm typing much faster than I really am. <shrugs>

Hehe I keep coming back and adding to this... I have really sensitive teeth -- especially front teeth. Sometimes if I'm drinking something cold, especially from a glass, I won't put both my lips on the glass and drink; instead, I'll put my bottom lip on it and keep my mouth open so the liquid doesn't have to touch my top teeth when it goes down. My parents still can't get over that, and I've been doing it for years.

I have a habit of wearing skirts and no underwear and letting people see I have no underwear on. You would be surprised at how many people are looking.
