Ferocious animals

if it turns out to be a possum, STAY VERY FAR AWAY.

Relatives of mine have been attaked before by them, mom's been chase by three of them, in different houses! Lol one shecaptured under a garbage can and called the cops.. and the cops were talking about being country boys.... they wouldn't lift the lid! it was hilarious.

I had a Simoyan husky that was a possum hunter. She would go off every day and try to find one. The thick fur kept her from getting too injured, but she got scratched up pretty good. We never could break her of it, thank goodness she never got sick or an eye gouged. People think about them playing dead, but they can be vicious little shits!

An animal that defends itself against a dog that is much bigger than it is, is not being vicous. It is just defending itself.

Yes, they're very cute. Be careful, though, because raccoons are prime carriers of rabies.

Not only are they prine carriers of rabies, they are a strong and aggressive predator that will take on a human in a stand up fight. Beware!

[I just don't trust an animal that has to wear a mask to go about its normal activities.]

Yeah, and isn't that a shame?

We're going to get more footage tonight, and then tomorrow we'll move the feeding station to the back fence. Safer for all concerned.

Next we expect some coyotes to come sniffing. This could become serious.

Or turkey or deer or foxes or bobcats or quail or pheasant or fools...

It would be fun to be an offline friend of Sarah's and go over late at night, and leave things behind.

Maybe a slimy trail to the bowl...

or a large sausage casing, like it was a shedded skin of something huge ...

or, speakers in the bushes, making eeery sounds.

This may be why Home Owners Associates fight my buying a house in court.

Sarahh, It may be more harrasment from your bikini-clad, Lawn-mowing neighbor ;)

Or maybe not.

OK. They're back.

And earlier tonight - we didn't get it on film.

But damn! We caught a glimpse of the hungry horde - 5 raccoons!

They brought the damn in-laws, it seems!

We disrupted their feeding and they scurried when they saw us,

I'm going to check in a few minutes to see if they're back.

lol, darlin stop feeding them for a few nights and they might go away. Pretty soon your going to have a whole horde of raccoons at your house and let me tell you if they manage to get into your house you are going to have one hell of a mess to clean up. It took two days to clean up the mess they made in our house in arkansas when only one of the little buggers managed to get in!

I was walking into the house when I noticed several racoons traveling together in a pack. They were carrying a sign . . . "Sarahh's Or Bust!" :p

I was enjoying my breakfast and morning paper on the back porch.

Hear a noise, look up. There's a couple of beady eyes looking at me from the stairs to the porch.

"No," I tell him. "You can't come up here and root through the composting bin."

He cocks his head at me.

"The answer's still no."

He shrugs and moves on.

They are cute little buggers. :)

And smart as hell (although in the wild they are very dangerous). My favorite story about my racoon (I raised three, but the first one was easily my closest pet): My sister's boyfriend showed up to pick her up for a date (they were 18-20ish). The doorbell rings and my dad opens the door. The guy is standing there frozen and pale, like he's seen a ghost. He looks at my dad, trying not to move too much, and says, "Is this yours?" My dad looks down and Rascal (yeah, I named him that  ) is standing patiently next to him, knowing that someone will answer the door when a human rings it. He then proceeds in and heads for the kitchen, while my dad shrugs (what exactly can you say? :D ).

We have quite a few racoons around here. They even have their own newspaper, The Racoon Times Some enterprising individual is advertising cut rate bus trips to Sweetsubsarahh's - One way only.

The ones around here have decided they're too good for the bus. There was a perfect little raccoon paw print just inches from my car door handle a few mornings ago.
