In the past year or so I've sent feedback about a dozen times. In all cases I really liked the story and wanted to encourage the author to write more. So far, I've received a total of zero replies.

I do check the box to display my e-mail address and I also type the address into the body of the message. So, I know they could reply if they wanted to.

Is it common for authors to reply to feedback? Or, do you guys and gals get so much feedback that it's impractical to reply to everyone?

Hi Digit,

At first it didn't occur to me to reply to feedback, untill I read some other comments here with people asking a similar question. Now I always try and send at least an acknowledgement.

However, for me to send email I have to connect to a dial-up service (that's the deal with my ISP  ) which is a bit of a pain and I'm far too busy (fucking lazy) to check and use a yahoo account or similar. So its not always straight forward.

keep posting feedback though - I'm certain that all authors appreciate being told what people think, why put their work ina public forum otherwise.

:)

I always reply to feedback I receive in email. I at least want to say thank you to someone who liked my story well enough to send me feedback.

Some authors may get so much it's not practical to reply to it, but for me, it's just the nice thing to do.

I always reply to feedback when a return address is available... even negative feedback... and I'm always polite... I do however realise that some of the more shall we say, superior beings who think they've made it, don't bother.

I always try to reply to feedback that has an email address attached. I may forget every once in awhile, but no one is perfect.

We wish.

Some of us are inundated with requests (send a naked photo, let's meet and act out your story) but that's usually the girlies.

The public replies seem to have cut mail feedback to a trickle.

I answer all my mailed (addressed) feedback because I only ever get about 3 or 4 per story if I'm lucky. But then, I stopped writing pure stroke a while ago. Must get back to that some time.

I respond to feedback that deals with the story.

The "Wanna meet?" or "Blow me, bitch!" feedbacks, I ignore.

I always reply to feedback.

Of course, I've gotten so little, it's not much work.

I answer all my feedback, if only to thank them for taking the time to respond. Like Gauche says, I don't get that much: maybe 3-5 pieces per story.

Since I only got three poems in english so far I've only received 8 comments or so but I can say that I answered all of them.
