FAWC 5: Line, Please!

Interesting there are so many more this go round. Wonder why...timing and the muse dropped by for me.

I think a lot of people ended up having more time on their hands with the end of the school year and other factors.

I just answered PMs from two more people wanting to send in their stories. I'm going to have a busy Wednesday morning, I think. ;)

By "Midnight Tuesday" do we mean 12 AM Tuesday morning, or do we mean 11:59 Tuesday night?

Yay, done and sent. You can send the winnings to the email stored in my Lit user profile :)

Since LC isn't participating, the honorable mention for "darkest story" will be MINE!!!!! bwahahaha...

He's not? Some people might disagree, instead insisting that every third person out here is an LC alt. :D

I've already got first place locked up. You'll have to settle for second.

I'm sure if it comes in a few minutes late, it will be included.

The cutoff time is tomorrow (Tuesday) at midnight CMT. Give or take. ;)

* * * *

We now have eighteen submissions, and I think a couple more, at least, are on the way. This will be the biggest FAWC yet.

I'm still trying to finish mine. It's just not behaving, dammit!

Chance of storms the rest of the week so took the afternoon off to hit the local pool.

We have the threat of t-storms just about all week, and I fear it will postpone PennBoy's baseball game (set for tomorrow) yet again. Ah well.

My boys are at hockey camp this week. Weather isn't an issue. And it's never hot.

Can't wait to see the other submissions. Should be some interesting takes on the theme.

I know I wanted to do a FAWC entry before but things just always conspired against me. For some reason this time they worked in my favour.

Man, this week's going to be like Story Christmas. Ok, ok. Since I'm getting a bunch of packages and they've all got books and handkerchiefs in them, I suppose it's more like Story Hanukkah.

So, how does feedback go on these? Is the comments section of each story the best place to put that, or is it better as a forum post? Does it post to this thread?

The way it usually goes is for one week after the stories go live, we more or less stay mum. Discussing the stories openly might give clues as to which ones a particular author didn't write. Still, the occasional comment here and there probably won't hurt anything. But after that week is up, I strongly encourage everyone to critique at least one story that wasn't theirs.

I know I'll be circling the comments page of mine like a famished vulture.

Most of us do. ;)

The last FAWC was the first time I left comments on all of the stories in the comments section. I'm glad I did, because I felt like the "discussion time" in this thread was cut a little short before a lot of people had a chance to chime in. But of course I left a comment on my own story so it wouldn't be obvious which one was mine.

I'm hoping this time around, since there will be so many stories, we can give it some time for discussion here, before everyone starts talking about where they want their stories to go and dismantling the FAWC page. Just my two cents.

I also thought the discussion was pretty short last time. I'd like to see more of it this go-round.

*hint, hint, nudge nudge* ;)

I'm going to try and put up a review of stories while the competition is still running. I don't have enough time to read them all before it's all over, but I will do as many as I can.

If you have a story that qualifies for my review blog (safe sex, remember) can you let me know - best way will be by sending a link to the story once it's posted via an anonymous comment on my profile: here, cuz then I can join in guessing who wrote what story.
:)
