Favorite War Movie

War Moives

I guess I have three probably not know to many.

?The Enemy Below"
Robert Mitchum and Kurt Jurgens,

"Battan" not the John Wayne one,

and "Onion Head" staring Any Griffin, Claude Akins, Walter Matthews and Joey Bishop.

All three have elements of the true experience from grudging respect for the enemy, to hopeless desperation, and finally bizarre comedy.

I haven't seen many war movies, but I have to say that I liked "Apocalypse Now"...

I really should get around to registering one of these days.

Anyway, favorite war movies

Boer War - Breaker Morant - I've been in the States 20 years and lost my English accent but can still pull off a respectable Aussie.

WWI - original French version of All Quiet on the Western Front (book was way better, but still a good movie)

WWII - Saving Private Ryan and Das Boot (even though you have to read the subtitles) I do have a laserdisc of both, the Das Boot has two audio tracks on English and the other German (still prefer to read the subtitles and listen to the German)

Vietnam - FMJ all the way. WHAT IS YOUR MAJOR MALFUNCTION? Law & Order Criminal Intent is awesome with Private Pyle.

The Killings Fields takes place during the fall of Saigon and is good, although I wouldn't really consider it a "war" movie.
