What is your favorite pieces of clothing? You know the ones, you wear them when you want to feel comfortable or comforted or safe. The ones no one else is allowed to touch or wear except on special occasions.

For me there are two.

The first is a beat to hell old leather motorcycle jacket. The jacket and I have a history together, I bought it in 1984 and have worn it ever since. I modified it when I bought it by having an Armadillo put into it as well as a Kevlar Lining. It is now well past the broken in point, it fits me like a glove. To pull on that old Horsehide jacket is to know I am protected and comfortable.

The second is a leather vest my wife bought me when we were first married. I have had this and worn it for 13 years now, almost 14. I have worn it in the rain and the snow and the high heat down here. I have sweat through it I don't know how many times. I wore it after the hurricanes while I was doing clean up and had branches and other things scrape along it instead of my skin. It is now more like a second skin than anything else.

an old denim jacket from high school, its more then a little beat up, with faded writing all over it, and a few old patches from punk and metal bands. still has safety pins in it, and lots of skoal stains. I dont wear it anymore, but its full of old memories from those good old high school days.

A set of three long-sleeved shirts that I bought for part-time work about 15 years ago. They cost seven pounds and fifty pence for the three and almost matched the "uniform" shirt that I couldn't wear because they weren't available in Og size. They were and are comfortable but are now relegated to gardening and D-I-Y wear because the collars are threadbare.

The employers have long gone. My place of work is now an established housing estate. But I still have friends from that time when I was between full-time jobs and grateful for the extra money.

Every time I go back to Russia, my wife throws away another special piece of clothing....

I do have, however, a big goose down pair of North Face booties I have been carrying around for 35 years..... THERE is nothing on the planet Earth (not counting her... or her... or her, come to think of it!) which warms my toes like those.... surviving the -40 nights in the Urals... (aka "a 3 girl night", to paraphrase the old pop group name)

And I love my Van Gogh print Amsterdam Hard Rock tee-shirt... but the truth is I keep a supply of new ones every time I visit there.. (assuming I remember to do anything, of course)

Lost forever... my Army field jacket.... sigh.. That lasted for 25 years... pretty tattered but awsomely cool... and my 1968 Frisbee Championship tee-shirt...

Where oh wear have they gone? Perhaps where all those lost single socks went... to the "sew-zone".

mmmm... ok, I have this fab rick owens dress which is really fluid and clingy. I like that. I like my cashmere trousers cause they are comfy and I  my Damaris knickers. They may have cost 125 quid, but they are soooo worth it! They are going with me on monday :D

I've this pointelle white cotton night dress - calf length but split to the hips on both sides - with really pretty white lace and a deep vee in front - I love it cuz its comfy and pretty and Fits over my considerable upper body assets -

Pallazzo Pants (several pair in different fabrics from fleece to silk) with any camisole I can find - just awesomely comfy and universally accepted as outer wear! mmm slip on a pair of stilletos or sling backs - drape some jewelry on and voila high fashion in seconds - or pull on a pair of thick socks, a nice thick sweater and perfect for cozying up on a cold night :)

my old highschool sweatshirt i got when I was playing sports. My last name's on the back but the letters are falling off. I don't wear it much because of that but it'll be with me for a long time.

In summer, my comfort clothes are cotton pj pants with a loose drawstring, and a tissue-weight cotton t-shirt so sheer it would get me arrested if I wore it outdoors.

No item of clothing has yet been designed for complete comfort (and public decency) in tropical climates.

Sexy. Really. Very.

My summer comfort clothes are baggy athletic shorts and cotton t-shirts.

In winter its baggy sweats and long sleeved cotton t-shirts

Some items that I have loved that have either vanished or are languishing in my closet.

An old Levi's Jacket. This jacket was given to me when it was too large for me. I grew into it while working on cars. Originally it had a cloudscape Airbrushed on the back but this wore off. The collar and cuffs were frayed and it was so impregnated with oil that while it was soft it was also waterproof.

It vanished. I think either my mother or my wife tossed it.

A leather Flop Hat. I believe it was stolen by an ex.

Bundeswere Field Jacket. It sits in my closet.

Chevron Soled Combat Boots. These things fit me like a pair of old Moccasins. They just vanished during one of our moves.

Black Beret. I wore this for years in Germany. I earned it and loved what it stood for. Stolen during a housebreak.

Poncho Liner. Vanished.

Oilskin Duster. Stolen from my car.

Deer Skin and Qualofill Short Parka. This hangs in my closet because I just can't part with it. (No need for a coat that will keep you warm down to -50° here in Florida.)

For most of the year I wear shorts, Tank Tops and Flip Flops or, rarely, Sandles. When it gets cold it is a pair of loose sweat pants and an oversized Sweat Shirt when I'm at home.

You would love one of my T-Shirts then. You can easily read a printed page through it and you can barely see the White Rock Logo on it.

I've got a few things that I'll keep until they literally fall apart:

...a pair of cut-off sweatpants that are so thin and so soft because they've been washed a kajillion times. The Greek letters are still there, but faded to almost obscurity - yep, got 'em when I was in college.

...my big brother in the fraternity was a state champion wrestler, and somehow I ended up with his championship match sweatshirt. He kept trying to steal it back, but I know how to hide things. ;)

...a navy t-shirt that was my brothers when he served on the Nimitz (stolen from him, too :D )

... a t-shirt from the memorial for wolf's son. I never wear it, but I'd never get rid of it, either.

The first is my Olympic coat. It's a uniform coat from the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake. It's the warmest coat I own, and when I need to be out in bad weather in the winter and I really don't want to be, that coat always makes me feel better. There was some COLD weather there, but I was warm in that coat.

The second is a whole set, but they're my Pride of Arizona t-shirts. Another reminder of good times when I'm feeling down and out.

Most of my PJs fall under this category. Why can't you find cotton pjs consisting of loose shorts and a sleeveless top anymore? Everything like that I find is now made of nylon. I don't like nylon jammies. I don't like nylon panties. They're not good for you. Anyway, most of my cotton pjs are literally threadbare.

My hoodies. I love the warm, slim fitting hooded jackets or sweaters.

My faded, now soft fitting jeans

And my kick ass black stilleto boots

my painting clothes.
I have 2 types of clothes: those somehow unmarred by paint and therefore suitable to wear out in the world and those clothes marked as uniquely mine by smudges of paint.

I joke that clothing and bedspreads aren't really mine until they've been marked by at least one form of art material.
