Favorite Character

You know, I find myself waffling...is it the character or story. As much as I like Chase Cooder I think my favorite character is the no-named protagonist in White Trash. But I admit it might be because the story was such fun to write and it still makes me laugh.

If the WT character is my favorite it's because he got off and back on track, I suppose.

On the other hand, I think I think story, not so much favorite character. Ah, well.

Cunning ploy!

Amelia, in Rope and Veil, because she's tough, scarred, bound, and half way through the story, I fell in love with her. And then discovered where the story was going.

Naoko liked her too, and was kind enough to review the story in her blog (link below).

Actually the hiden intent in creating this thread was for me to get authors to describe & rate there best work and post a link, so I'd have the best product to read. So yes at least I will read it. It sounds interesting.

Thanks,

LC

Are you talking about 'Abigail', by King Diamond? Someone gave me the 2005 re-issue as a joke, the synopsis in the album notes made me want to get a priest to burn it, but I kept it, it lives somewhere at the bottom of the 'why the f**k did I buy that?' stack in one of the spare bedrooms...

You win the no prize! OF course I had the Original from the mid eighties, I bought it for the artwork, because back in the album days the heavy metal groups-especially Iron Maiden-had some killer artwork.

The album story line has zero to do with mine, but for some reason the name stuck with me and when I created the character a few years back, that was the name that became associated with it.

One small problem with that. In my case, my favorite character (Or the prototype one here) is not in my best work. It is in the work that has paid me the most money by far. Readers liked the character enough to buy at least three books each so I'm happy as hell. :)

It's the same for me, my best character isn't in my best work, but it's a trade off right. The best character has the best depth development etc. I'd rather get lost in a single person done right rather than the trappings for the mainstream.

Mine is in my best work....to me.

But I would think many here would pick a couple of other stories as my best at least going by 'stats' because I have two romances(one in mature and one in first time) that have crazy numbers.

Thanks LC.

Going by your view of rapists that I've seen you post, you'll hate where it starts, but you will love the payback.

I'm quite fond of RJ and Yaya in my "Stringed Instrument" series. I wanted to write people who were antagonists to the main characters/lovers without being cardboard villains, and I think I succeeded with those two.

That's fine, I believe in equilibrium. I've written things I've considered immoral but I always have that counterweight.

Female Characters: I love most of them, but my favorite is definitely Elizabeth. Her stories take forever to write and they don't get very many readers relatively speaking, but they're a labor of love. She has overcome some truly humiliating and extremely unfair treatment in her past to become successful in every aspect of her life, as well as being beautiful and very confident in and out of bed. Perhaps best of all is that she's no Mary Sue: she's a bit arrogant, prone to not always trusting her friends, and she drinks rather more than she should. But to me, that just makes her all the more real. Best of all, I once woke up in the middle of the night to find my wife masturbating after reading the first Elizabeth story. Can't imagine a better endorsement than that!

Honorable mention to Mary Beth in Nobody's Beauty But Mine and Sylvia in The Blizzard. Those were both a lot of fun to write.

Male characters: This is tougher, but probably Tom in The Relapse Door. He overcomes a lot of self doubt and a low self-image (something I can identify with all too well) to literally save the world. A close second is Paul in A Rose For Christmas, he's probably got the most prowess in bed of any of my male characters. Doug in the Decades series is near and dear to my heart as well, as I'm all too familiar with the temptation to romanticise the past.

Post 1 favorite character. No one is gonna read about all those extra favorites.

I read about Elizabeth & stopped. The Elizabeth story is all I'll read, for the record i'm considering Elizabeth your favorite character.

She is, that's why I mentioned her first. But just because you won't read the other stories doesn't mean no one will. :)

I know a little about communications and a bloc of words is not likely to be read incontrast to something tight clean an sexily short & direct. Saying that I do hope your other stories get the attention they deserve, we put a lot of hardwork into our works.

My favorite "character" I've written are the panties in Pandora's Panties, my Halloween contest entry. The idea came to me in a flash of horniness - I want a pair of those, please...

Pandora's Panties

There are two characters that come to me:

Emily, because she was the young lady I wish I had been, and had the sexual devlopment I wish I'd had. And I like the story arc of how she drifts into polyamorous relationships:

I'll list the following stories in the order of their writing, so you can read them chronologically if you wish:

And Virginia, because she is the character whom I would someday wish to become:

Mine would have to be Evelyn Blaire, she's basically 'Lara Bond' if I had to use a few comparators. Extremely sexual yet professional, bi-sexual and up for anything, which leads her into situations which she changes the tone from serious to sexual, and then back.

I've yet to publish her first story, but it's coming soon. I'll post a link once I've posted it.
