I don't care what your particular brand of politics is but if one sits back and watches what's going on in DC you have to be somewhat amazed. Maybe pissed off, maybe ecstatic, but still amazed.
Trump has everyone, and I mean everyone, scampering around like a cat chasing a laser pencil. The old paradigm of floating a policy/initiative/etc., letting the press dissect it, the politicians pontificate, and the special interest groups, pro or con, mobilize, before actually taking action is gone with yesterdays trash. They're all being jerked around so quickly that they barely have time to catch a breath, let alone game a 'sound bite' response. He's following through on his campaign pledges with blazing speed. I only wish Merle Haggard was around to witness this.
On top of that he's schmoozing with the congress critters, critters of both parties. Forming personal relationships, something his predecessor was loath to do. And indeed no president since LBJ has interacted so profusely with congress. This is an indication that Trump really does know the limitations of his powers.
To say that Trump is 'energetic' is an understatement. Very few presidents in the history of the US have been so energetic. Outside of the wartime presidents, who had no real choice in the matter, only A. Jackson and T. Roosevelt come to mind. One might argue JFK as well, but even he wasn't quite up to the Trump energy level.
My observation on all of this is that we are witnessing the actions of a man that is NOT a politician. Right, wrong, or indifferent he's hell bent for leather to get things done. And those that are trying to shoehorn him into the mold of the conventional politician are going to be continually befuddled.
Living in interesting times indeed.
