"What did he do this time?" he asked, grasping his beating stick.

"Read me too well," she grumbled.

Issak let off the stick. "How so?"

"He knows something is up, but is upset I won't tell him."

"I guess he'll have to wait," Issak said. "It's for his own good."

"That's why I didn't say anything," she said.

"Well you did the right thing," he said. "Where do you need me?"

"Where do you think you're needed," she said.

"Probably out in the woods," he said, heading off.

Al'ika made her way to the tavern, sitting down and began her midday meal.

Flish served her. "I'll be operating things out of here in case I'm needed," he said.

"Thanks, Flish. How's things going for you?" She asked.

"A lot of new soldiers trying to score free war time meals, but i sort them out," he said.

"Good job," she joked.

"If you need a scout, i'll lead the patrol," he said.

"Thanks, Flish," she said gratefully.

Flish dropped off her food and went back to bartending. She could see Keth directing traffic in the square outside.

Al'ika ate hungrily and chatted up with a few other people before making her way out. She kissed Flish's cheek. "I'll talk to you soon," she said before heading out.

"I expect I'll see Jep soon as well," he said. "Have fun hunting bandits."

Al'ika flashed a smile before finding Issak. She kissed his cheek. "Jep out yet?" she asked.

"Just about," he said. "Fate brought him his armor and blade, so it should be soon."
