Jep came out and began talking to his brother, ignoring Al'ika. "What's going on?" he asked.

Al'ika bit her lip and looked away, waiting to see if Issak would reply.

Issak smacked him on the back of the head and said, "Ask her, jackass."

Al'ika laughed and kissed Issak semi passionately. "We found evidence of bandits. Possibly hired by Ashglow." She held up the dagger and gave it to Jep. "We wanted you to be healthy and officially out before we told you, for your health."

"All right, I guess you were right," he said. "Where do you need me?"

"Where do you think you're needed? Flish is keeping his ears open, Keth's directing traffic, I'm organizing, and Issak's got the woods."

"You know I'm a sneaky guy, so tell me where to go and I'll do it," he said.

 

[celestialdragon]

"My little thief," Al'ika laughed. "Maybe sneak over the borders a little, gather some intel? No hurting yourself, though."

"Sounds good to me," he said. "I'll take a patrol out." He left for the barracks, looking for more experienced woodsmen.

Al'ika smiled and looked at Issak. "All better."

 

[bindingeagle]

"I'm going to work on some spells, you keep on top of these new ones," he said, heading off.

Al'ika laughed and made her way back to Edioz's. "Hey, Edioz. We might need advanced weapons, evidence of Ashglow hiring bandits."

"I can make some fine weapons, but the ones I think you're looking for are a bit more of the magic variety," he said. "I can do some research for you as to where some might be, and I'll partner up with Jester again for help."

"Oh, I've been asking Jester for help, but need to figure things out before doing some higher level magic," Al'ika said.

"I wouldn't know about any of that, but I do know weapons, and I can see if I can find some," he said. "It won't be easy to get them, just as a fair warning."

"Nothing is ever easy to get in my profession, Edioz," she noted. She smiled.

"I made some new arrowheads you might want to try out," he said, offering her the barbed, jagged arrows. "These should do you just fine."

"Thanks Edioz." She pocketed them. "Any other brilliant ideas?"

"Try not to get killed," he said. "Best I've got, now go give them hell."

Al'ika grinned and kissed Edioz's cheek. "Thanks," she said before bounding out.

Keth found er and said, "What you want to do? Troops are ready."

"Set out a patrol. I need to do a lesson with Jester," Al'ika said. "We'll figure out what to do from intel we get back."

Keth left and rounded up four or five soldiers. Jester was in his room, studying an old map.

"Watcha got there, old man?" she asked, sitting down next to him.
