"Sorry," he said quietly, "I've done it in the past and it went over better." He really looked like he meant the apology.

Al'ika hugged him. "I know you meant well, and I know it's gone over better in the past. But please. . . keep in mind what I've gone through. . . I was crying from the time you left until Keth came in." She gently kissed his cheek.

"I really thought I told you what was going to happen, but I will remember in the future," he said, hugging her back. "Now what did you need us all for?"

"I just want the company," Al'ika nodded. "Be around friends and the like. I don't get to do that often." She smiled reassuringly. "Now kiss me," she commanded teasingly.

Jep pecked her on the cheek. "Go be with your man," he whispered. "We both get it, He makes your stars shine brighter."

"You're staying with me, though," Al'ika said, blushing furiously. "And nothing's been decided on!" She hissed under her breath. She returned and sat between Issak and Keth. "How are my favorite boys doing?" she asked.

"We're good and ready to go," Issak said. "Just say the word and we can pack up." Keth looked at her and checked her leg. "You look better," he said, putting on more earth salve. "Keth fine too."

Issak and Jep set their bedrolls up across the cave from where Keth and Al'ika were set up. "Well, we'd better sleep if we want to depart at dawn," Jep said. "Good night, you two." Soon Jep and Issak were snoring away. Keth added fuel to the fire before laying down next to Al'ika. He kissed up and down her neck.

"Keth is very happy," he said quietly. "I have you and we're going home heroes. Let's sleep though." He said, holding her close until he felt her start her regular sleep pattern.

Al'ika woke up around dawn and silently slipped out of Keth's arms. She got dressed after sewing some of her pants, keeping an eye on the three guys.

Soon after, all three of her boys awoke and began preparing for the journey. Keth cooked while Jep and Issak packed up their things to go. Issak took a little longer, as he still had to prepare his daily spells. Soon the food was ready and everyone sat on to eat.

"This is good," Al'ika complimented Keth. She looked over at Issak. "How's the spell casting going, Issak?" she asked.

"Oh, you know, communing with nature," he laughed when he was finished. After the meal, Keth packed up their bags, being careful of the herbs. "Ready?" he asked.

The four friends set off down the mountain through the early morning mists. Around midday, they came to a stream, and Jep said, "This looks like a good spot to eat lunch."

The party sat and ate. Keth cuddled with Al'ika, clearly glad to be back with her. Suddenly, a loud series of barks and howls echoed through the forest around them.

Keth and Jep drew their swords, and Issak stood and hefted his staff as the worgs appeared over the ridge. They began to charge.
