I've written something like 25 chapters of a fan fiction story for a very well known computer (adventure) game, and I was wondering if it's possible to submit it to Literotica. Everything is mine except for the two main characters.

Any thoughts would be appreciated, and thanks in advance. :)

On the surface there is nothing wrong with posting fan fiction. Does it include sex? If you have twenty five chapters, you could probably classify that as a novel/novella, but if you don't have any sex you want to make that clear from the beginning so that you don't get slammed in the reviews for not having the "erotica" part of "lit-erotica". But there are no rules stating you can't post it, no. If it includes a known persona or pesonality it might fit in celebrities, too.

Yeah, there's sex. The first half of the novel establishes the plot with plenty of sexual tension and buildup, and things get stronger from there.

You can, but there isn't much traffic in the celebrities section. I post mine at http://www.adultfanfiction.net as well as here. There are a couple other sites that sprang up to specialise in erotic fanfic, now that fanfic.net has disallowed NC-17 from their site- damn their eyes!

Those bastards! Anyway, thanks for the tip. ;)

Oh, damn! My computer game isn't listed here! They only have fanfics for console games! :(

Aurora - I've got a reasonable amount of traffic in the celebrities section on Lit. Although, having said that, my fanfics are Buffyverse, so there's a ready-made fanbase.

Where's yours based?

It's based on an adventure/mystery game series called "Gabriel Knight," and it has a good sized fanbase with several fan sites and forums.

I have a Star Wars piece in the celebrities section...it's not one of my most read things...18 votes, 8 comments, about 10K views...but the feedback on it was fun, and I still love the idea of it..

...and I know of Gabriel Knight, although I never played it...

I remember those. Good games. I always thought that several of those adventure games had characters, styles and imaginative plots that would have made them great novels or movies, with a little work.

Yes, exactly! The creator of the GK series, Jane Jensen, did go on to publish novels of the first and second games. But after GK3 was released in '99, Sierra not only decided not to continue the series, but they also kept the rights to the characters so JJ couldn't even write any more novels! :(

So my novel picks up where the last game left off, with a whole new adventure, mysterious characters and new dangers. ;)

Okay, I finally bit the bullet and submitted the Prologue and the first three chapters of my fan fic series, "Dark Impulse."

I tried to put them in Novels & Novellas (and of course I cited the original author), but they wound up in Celebrities after all.

I didn't think that this game would have many followers at Lit to read them (hence my attempt to put them in N & N), but curses! Foiled again. :p

to me, the only location for "fan fiction" on literotica is Celebrity.

I've written several fan fics, though none of them are on lit, and one of them is also based on a popular MMPORG. (City of Heroes)

They all have sex, though like you, I establish the story and characters long before the "sex" part becomes hot and heavy.

I am not a fan of "multi-chapter" stories on lit, only because of the format, but I hope your story does well!

Thank you, A.B. Guye. I really appreciate that. :)

Best of luck with your series. A built-in fan base is always a huge plus. of course, but I still wouldn't be too concerned about lack of pre-primed followers. Many readers are fluid enough to appreciate well-written stories within a genre rather than a specific set of characters/plots; if they're Grey’s Anatomy fans, for example, they’ll also read E.R. fan-fic.

If it doesn't work out, and if your stories are too sacred for fanficnet, you might want to consider Kirtsen's Archive. I'm glad you gave Lit first chance, however. Laurel and Manu seem like righteous people and *chuckle* they know where we all live.

Thanks for the well wishes. What do you mean by "sacred," exactly? I did look at other fan fic sites to see if there was a place for Dark Impulse, but there was no mention of Gabriel Knight there, just a whole bunch of stories for different console games, not PC adventure/mystery/supernatural ones from the 90s like GK.

"Sacred" was just an allusion to the "nothing unsacred" comment you posted earlier.

As I said, the fact a particular fandom isn't currently there doesn't mean it can't be put there. Sites that are devoted to zealous fans of a specific game or show generally won't accept anything else, but general sites are usually willing--sometimes eager--to expand into other fandoms as well.

Good to know. Thanks. ;)

I'm wondering if Falling would be appropriate for Lit... it's romance, not erotica, although there's sex, it's mild graphic stroke value at the most. Would it fit into the Celeb cat, I wonder? Not many read there anyway, so I may get away with too many flames and troll-attacks. The only problem is... it's novel length.

Any thoughts?

Mine is novel length, too. Because the editors switched categories on me when I tried to submit the chapters under Novels & Novellas (because of the length), I'm guessing that the rule is Fan Fics = Celebrities, period. *shrug*
