When they got outside, Rosalie hesitated momentarily, looking around. Archibald knew what she was looking for, and chuckled slightly.
"We will be walking, my dear. It is not far from here, and given the way traffic is in the local area, it is actually much quicker using our own feet." He led Rosalie down the street, walking at a casual place. The mixture of her perfume and her natural scent started stirring something within him that went beyond his current need for sustenance. He fought the confusion this generated, and focused on the night ahead. He knew that his masquerade was working, and he just needed to sustain it until such time as the transfer of the property was complete.
In what appeared to be not time at all, they arrived outside the restaurant. There was a small gathering of people waiting to enter, but Archibald walked past them to the host standing at the entrance.
"Reynolds. Party of two."
The young man briefly scanned his list, and with a barely noticeable gesture, summoned a waitress to show them to their table. The decor was opulent, the lighting was low and there was music playing from a live band on the other side of a substantial dance floor.
As they passed various tables, other patrons looked over at the couple, more eyes on Rosalie than on him. He smiled, correct in his assessment that Rosalie would attract a good amount of attention.
He held her chair for her as she sat down, then took his own seat opposite her. He looked across, caught by how she looked in the lighting and indeed the actual setting. If he was human, he would have been lusting for her body by this stage.
"Thank you for agreeing to come out with me to celebrate our mutual good fortune. It is always far better to celebrate with someone rather than alone. Don't you think?"
